New Beginning

Time went by. In a blink of an eye, days became months and mouths turned to years. Both Titan and Zagan spent years mastering their skills. Zagan didn't encounter too many problems regarding competition because he was the only student. But having such a tough master like grand master Wen Xu was enough to make him loose his mind. Titan on the other, had Angela Wick to contend with. Although Angela did not give Titan so much attention in the first year of her training, subsequent years became hell. Not only Angela but even some other students as well. The school was known for its discipline but notorious people were bound to be in every organization; whether good or bad.

There was an occasion where Titan's clothes got missing when she went to take a shower. Knowing fully well that Titan would be unable to shout for help because of her supposed speech deficiency, a bunch of notorious girls took her clothes away. Thankfully, she sensed it coming and had prepared another set of clothes which she hung inside the bathroom.

When the girls saw Titan leaving the bathroom with another set of clothes, they couldn't help but feel disappointed. But even at that, they didn't relent and kept causing so many problems for Titan.

Although she had alot of haters, she also had a lot of admires. Many students especially juniors, loved her. After all, its rare to see the other gender around and what was worse was the fact that their interschool competition had been moved till further notice from the initial two years that it was supposed to hold.

Now, it had been nine years since Titan entered into this new school of hers making her eighteen already. How time flies...

The head master delayed her training on the field by adding one year extra claiming that she was just a minor and needed more time before going to the field.

This day was a bright sunny morning. The birds of the air were squeaking melodiously and the sound of water flowing was heard. The fresh cool breeze was sensational and the bang of the door... Wait that's not supposed to be part of this scene.

Realizing this, Titan immediately jumped out of bed and ran to a wardrobe where all her masculine clothes were kept and quickly wore one. Now that she was already of age, hiding her gender was getting even harder. She now had a total feminine look. Not just the looks, even her figure was a more problematic feature.

The knock on the door got louder and louder. Normally, the doors were not supposed to have locks but Titan specifically made one for herself. It was a good thing that she didn't have to share a room with anyone unlike some other students. This type of treatment she received caused other students to feel that the head master was being partial. Although it was a very small room and could even pass for a cubicle, people still complained.

After a while, Titan opened the door and let the person who was standing outside in. It was Zian, her most trusted friend. As she came in, she began to rant like a wild chicken.

"It's a good thing you still know how to open the door! How could you still be sleeping at this hour? Don't you remember you have to attend master Eunice's class this morning? And its..."

Zian was yet to complete what she was saying when Titan immediately dashed out of the room. Leaving the former stupefied.

Titan ran to the hall where her class was supposed to hold and with a bam!, She pushed the door open in a rush drawing everyone's attention. As master Eunice saw the person at the door, she stared at her in askance.

"Did you sleep well Titan?" Master Eunice looked like she was asking this a harmless question but it was certain that she didn't actually mean what she said. And as she finished talking, there was a loud roar of laughter by the students seated in the large hall.

"Silence!" She cautioned but within two seconds, she continued taunting Titan.

"I believe you were not born yesterday and you know fully well that this is a school and not some entertainment center where you get to sleep till you get woken up by your mother."

Light chuckles were heard as master Eunice ended this statement.

Titan just held her head up and didn't say anything, not because she didn't want to but because the consequences would be disastrous.

"Titan, I believe that when I ask you a question, you should me an answer and not stand there like a Morfran [1]?"

As she said this, another roar of laughter broke out.

"Master Eunice is so savage... She actually called Titan a mythical ugly creature. Haha!"

"Tsk tsk. I really don't have the time to stay and chat with you. My bad, take a seat."

Master Eunice gestured for Titan to seat on the floor in front of the entire class.

Titan slightly furrowed her brow when she saw the direction of the master's hand.

"What? You don't like it? Well I'm sorry your royal highness, this is a learing ground and we not only train students to learn physical strength but also train students to have good morals and discipline. If you don't like it, I'm afraid you'll have to leave my class."

Titan quietly walked to the dirty spot on the ground and sat quietly. As she sat, another wave of laughter filled the air.

Master Eunice cleared her throat then turned to the blackboard and began to write. Judging from the situation, she had also just got into class.

On the big board, she wrote in a foreign language that everyone understood except Titan. Or so she thought. On the board was boldly written, BODY, SPIRIT AND SOUL.

All the student gasped and started murmuring amongst themselves

"Finally, we can learn this topic. Senior Angela always speaks of how amazing the topic is and how important it is in order to be able to gain some 'enlightenment'."

"Oh! I'm so happy finally I can get to learn this topic"

Titan stared at the board and an unnoticable smile formed on her face. 'Hmm body, spirit and soul. Impressive!'

The master turned to the class and stared at their excited faces then she side looked at Titan to check if she had any problems with the words she had written on the board. When she saw that Titan hand a black expression and looked as though she was lost in thoughts, a devilish smile appeared on her face. She then faced the other students and started.

"We humans are made up of three important components." She then raised her pinkie finger.

"One, the body which is the normal flesh you see." Then she raised her index finger,

"Two the spirit. And three, the 'soul.'" As she said this, she raised her middle finger and enunciated the last word.

"I wonder what the difference is between spirit and soul." Master Eunice spoke as if she had no idea.

After a while, she continued. "The human, is nothing without experiences. Without experiences and memories, you become an empty shell. You are only who you are because of the experiences and memories you have.

"Take for instance, our beloved Titan here. If he looses his memory now, he'd probably not even remember that he's a boy." As she said this, the whole class began to laugh.

"Therefore, he becomes as useless as this face of his."

"That aside, our soul therefore comprises of the experiences we gather and the memories we have. Now, the soul is not just limited to that but that is the particular thing it comprises of because I can't punish Titan for being a boy if he doesn't even know that he's one."

All the students were chuckling and the master was satisfied with getting on Titan's nerves little did she know that the latter was unaffected by her taunts but rather, carefully listening to everything the woman said.

"The experiences you've gathered is what has moulded you to being who you have become. Your soul goes to the afterlife but your flesh which is your body, decays."

After saying that, she turned and looked at Titan. "And can anyone tell me what spirit is?"

After a long silence, she randomly chose. Or maybe she didn't.

"Titan, can you tell the class what spirit is?"
