Feng Hei Lang walked along the city streets while looking around for the assassin. Kang Lei nudged her. "Hei Lang! Look! This bracelet has a boost of making you invisible for 30 seconds! But the cooldown is thirty minutes..."
She turned to him and gave him a small smile. "If you want it, you can buy it...I'm sure Kirei has plenty of money."
Kirei turned away from him. "I'm not giving any money to that dummy." She gave a small laugh. "C'mon! We're all working together anyways!"
He sighed. "It's not worth to spend money on an artifact that only has one special effect. Most artifacts have at least a special effect and a combat boost."
Kang Lei stomped his foot along the ground. "Yeah, yeah, rich kid. Nothing is impressive in your eyes anyways!"
Kirei turned back to him and glared. "What did you say, water boy?"
Kang Lei made a vulgar gesture at him. "I said that you're dumb, fire child!" They both started clamoring and yelling at each other until Feng Hei Lang held up a hand between them. "Both of you! Stop fighting! Kirei, you're currently carrying all of our money right now, so just cooperate okay?"
They both nodded, but turned away from each other. Kang Lei sighed and pointed at a weapon shop. "Hey, fire child, wanna go see that?"
Kirei smirked. "Sure, water boy." As they headed off, Feng Hei Lang smiled. 'Kirei really does seem different when he's not being suspicious of us. He's much more open.' She quickly pulled up the Skill Credit shop to look for a specific skill. 'Alright, I need to track down the assassin, so I need to find their location. I need a skill that lets me sense killing intent towards me.'
She kept glancing towards Kang Lei and Kirei as they browsed some weapons. Feng Hei Lang sighed in annoyance. 'I'm feeling so paranoid right now...I have 45 Skill Credits, and the skill [Killing Intent Sense] costs 30 Skill Credits...Not cheap at all!' She flinched when she bought it. 'Ouch! That's so many Skill Credits gone!' She closed her eyes and quickly used [Killing Intent Sense].
Instantly, the word became transparent, with only white outlines of people and thing shone. It only spread out to around ten feet around her though. She couldn't see any killing intent within the area.
Feng Hei Lang opened her eyes and frowned. 'The range is way to small! I need to quickly level up this skill so I can use it in a larger radius!' She continuously used it as she walked over to Kang Lei and Kirei.
They were arguing once more over a dagger. Kirei pointed at it, "I found it first! And you don't even use daggers! This is surely for me!"
Kang Lei clenched his fist. "No, I found it first! Plus its special effect is more useful for my special ability!"
She facepalmed and sighed once more. 'They never stop arguing do they?' She walked between them once more. "Both of you stop. Kang Lei, you don't use daggers. You should probably find a sword that fits you."
Kirei had a smug smile on his face. "Guess this is mine, water boy."
Kang Lei hissed at him. "I'll find something better than that dumb dagger!"
Feng Hei Lang whacked both of them on the head lightly. "Stop fighting! We have to stay low, remember? Don't cause a scene." She whispered that sentence quietly.
Both of them nodded. Kang Lei muttered, "Sorry, Hei Lang."
She walked up to the shop's daggers and quickly used [Appraisal] on whichever one she found.
Beep!
[Appraisal Level Up!]
Feng Hei Lang smiled. 'Yes! I wonder what happens if I use [Appraisal] now!' She quickly used it on the dagger she was holding.
[Snake Scale Dagger]
[A dagger made of snake scales from Venom Valley.]
[Special Effect: Has a 50% chance of poisoning the enemy]
[Bonus Effect: +10% Physical Damage]
[Effect: +10 Strength, +20 Agility]
She gasped. 'It can show a bonus effect now! [Appraisal] is so good!' Feng Hei Lang picked up the dagger and walked over to the shop's owner. "How much is this?"
The man held up five fingers. "Five gold."
She frowned. "Three gold?"
He shook his head. "Five. It's especially from Venom Valley. It's very hard to collect materials there. However, if you can get me some scales, I'll even take just two gold for it."
Feng Hei Lang sighed. 'That stupid quest is keeping me in Fengli city! How am I supposed to go to Venom Valley now?!' She asked him, "Where is Venom Valley?"
The man took out a map and circled an area with a red pen. "It's right here. It's a sub-area of Fengli city. Many adventurers like to go there and risk their chances of encountering a snake to gather materials. However, the air is poisonous gas, so you have to purify it someway."
She tilted her head and rolled up the map. "It's still part of Fengli city right?"
He nodded. "Indeed."
Feng Hei Lang smiled. "I'll get those scales back. Keep the dagger on hold for me!" She quickly grabbed Kang Lei and Kirei. "Come! I'm going to Venom Valley to get some snake scales, so I can trade it for the dagger!"
Kang Lei grinned. "Alright! I was wanting to test out this sword I found anyways!"
She secretly had a large smile underneath her cloak hood. 'Since it's part of Fengli city, I can still head there! Especially with the fact that there is going to be less people there! And the poisonous gas! I can use [Shadow Manipulation] to make a "mask" and block the poisonous gas!'
Feng Hei Lang raised her fist determinedly. "Venom Valley, here I come!"
