An Amazing Spider

I'm pretty sure this fish doesn't understand what drowning means.

"Ah! Wait! I'm a fish!"

How exactly does one forget one's species in the first place? She starts swimming fast and swings herself out of the water. This fish is now gasping for air while looking proud.

What is wrong with the creatures in this forest?! The tiger and the bear take a step forward and start pushing the creature back into the lake while shaking their heads.

How are they not acting surprised in the least?! Just pushing casually as if it was to be expected. Why do I get the feeling it's not their first time accomplishing this task? That is wild.

"Indeed human you guessed it right this fish does this every time someone denies her dream."

[How many times has it happened already?]

"Not too sure, lost count."

[Then why the hell did the old ghost send us here?! This fish is useless!]

I can hear sobs in the background from the fish agreeing with me.

"Oh that, he doesn't know a single thing about magic himself. He used to be a swordsman. That hasn't changed since he died. He has his own ways to cope with such a danger, but only when he's the target. As far as helping another he is completely useless."

What now?

There is no way my companions can remain like this.

*Sigh* but for now guess I'll deal with the fish. Approximately 5 hours later I am done.

How does one deal with a suicidal fish? Apparently by telling it the story of A little mermaid and adapting it in a fish-siren version. Then saying some bullshit along the lines of as long as you believe in it enough it is possible for it to happen!

Now she is daydreaming again happily about her bright future. Oof, I'm glad this part of my life is finally over. Note to self, stay away from this one. She turns to me.

"You are actually a really nice guy! I can't believe I was afraid of you at first! There is no way you would do such a thing as steal my voice!"

Okay, actually she might be kinda cute. In a childish way. She is now gazing at me with such innocence and …. Suddenly... Dread?

Why? What is up with her now? She seems frozen in place.

[What are you…?]

"NOOOOOO!!!! Not my voice!!!!"

There she goes again…. why would she…. Then I see it. A mischievous spider making faces behind my back.

The same faces the bear and the tiger were doing earlier. Well to put it simply she is miming. It is also safe to say she probably scarred a goldfish for life with this prank of hers.

This…. Can I facepalm? Wasn't she one of the guardians of this place? One of its mighty protectors Yes. Yes, she is.

[*Sigh* Whatever I'm not babysitting her again. You deal with the aftermath!]

"HAHAHA Did you see her terrified expression?!"

[Yes.]

"It was hilarious! Even better than you earlier!"

[…Yes.]

"HAHAHAHAHA That was fun!"

[Yes, but now we have a problem. What are we supposed to do about my two disciples now? They can't remain like that!]

The bear is gesturing that he doesn't actually mind. Overruled!

"HAHA Don't worry there is actually a simple solution to that. If it was anything else, it would have been hard but dispelling one's own magic is fairly easy."

[Then why didn't you simply say so?!]

"Well, I have a very good reason for that …."

[Being?]

"…. It is more entertaining to see you guys squirm haha!"

Then again that is coming from the one that thought it was a good idea to just let me train magic without any supervision.

Also coming from the one that tried spooking me as soon as she joined...actually did. Now that I think about it, aren't I dumb for having expectations toward her in the first place? Very much.

[Fine, so how do we proceed.]

"Alright, you'll want to get both of them close to you. Then you need to imagine yourself destroying all the magic you previously placed upon them while circulating mana."

[Alright, and then?]

"That's it."

[That simple?]

Can't believe we spent so much time on a task so simple already. Today has been a really bad day for me, let's just say that.

I concentrate. I drive the mana to follow my will. Then a formless blast of energy seems to be radiating from me.

Pure white and almost invisible. It quickly engulfs everyone around. The spider, the bear, the tiger, not the fish since she's hiding who knows here.

How is it?

"This tiger can talk! This is amazing, teacher! You managed to dispel such a strong spell instantly! This is so great!"

I like how he ignores the fact that I was the root of the issue in the first place.

"*murmurs* This bear can talk too."

[Are you not able to talk louder? Should I try it again?!]

"*whisper* No, this bear is perfectly fine.

I simply have new ideas for training.

This experience has opened my eyes. I should manage to remain silent at all times no matter the situation."

This …sure. That's when I notice the odd look of the tiger. He seems to be looking at the spider. I turn toward her.

"See human, it wasn't that hard. Isn't it amazing all the time you ended up wasting? HAHAHAHAHA."

I absent-mindedly answer.

[Amazing…amazing for sure!]

In front of me stand 2 twin peaks in all their glory. Amazing indeed. Truly. Her clothes were made of magically woven silk, it seems. Because it all disappeared with the dispel.

I can see everything. I was disappointed when seeing the siren but turns out it was just a test from god. After the suffering came the sweet, sweet reward.

I am blessed. Truly blessed. I came here looking for copper and I found gold. You'd expect my previous life would have given me some immunity. None!

I cannot help but stare. This chest is just so perfect.

"Human you seem oddly cheerful for someone that just got toyed with for so…."

Then she follows my gaze.

"KYAAA!"

She bolts away even faster than the fake siren.

Can tomorrow ever top that?

Top …. or in this case, lack of.
