That morning:

After finishing a high-level meeting, Mo Xiuchen returned to his office. As soon as he opened the door, he saw Gu Kai sitting there.

Seeing him come back, Gu Kai sprang up from the sofa, looking at him with a delighted and excited expression. His hand, placed by his side, was invisibly tightening, as if trying to suppress his emotions.

"What's with that face of yours? Have you won a lottery or fallen in love?"

Mo Xiuchen slightly squinted his eyes, stepped into the office, closed the door behind him, and walked towards him.

Gu Kai walked over with a bright smile on his handsome face without uttering a word, and hugged him all of a sudden.

Mo Xiuchen frowned and pushed him away: "Gu Kai, what's got into you?"

He missed him this much after just a few days apart? That seems unlikely!
