Chapter 28: Avatar of Death

That ray of hope enabled Keon to finally break the barrier to the next level. A booming sound resounded inside his body and his Cube World expanded and reached the threshold for Level 3 Mystics

With a renewed power, Keon ignored the pain from his broken bones and he didn't care if his injuries will worsen. What injury? If he died here then it doesn't matter what injury he has. What he needs to do is to survive!

With that in mind, Keon stood up without a care for his injury. He was so focused on the masked man that he didn't notice that Mady and Gabe were actually looking at him with anticipation in their eyes

The masked man watches his actions calmly and he saw that Keon made seven cards again. Just like the first time, Keon threw one of the cards and it shined with another blinding light

The masked man snorted at that. The same trick won't work twice

He readied himself for another round of elemental attacks that actually didn't come. Instead of shooting elemental attacks, the cards actually only let out thick fogs of smokes

Keon immediately sprang into action as he jumped while two cards appeared in his feet that sent out strong gusts of winds that sent him to the masked man

"[Avatar of Death!]" Keon muttered. This is his first time using this mystic form

It was the mystic form that he gained after absorbing Shinta's Cube Core. Although he felt that it was powerful, he still never dared used it before

Keon's Cube Core is abnormal and he feared that using the mystic form he gained from it will cause a disaster for himself. Thus, he only had the chance to use it when his life is in this kind of danger

Keon's eyes gained a much darker shade of black while a black robe formed in his body. Aside from that, a purple scythe also appeared in his hand

He literally looks like the personification of death - a Grim Reaper!

After Keon uses this mystic form, his aura changes to one that is filled with death. It was like death itself condenses into a physical form and uses Keon as the medium

Seeing that transformation, Gabe and Mady's eyes glowed with excitement. Although the man floating in the air has a masked on his face, he was also feeling great excitement

The masked man was about to stop the fight after confirming what he needs to confirm but he suddenly sensed death nearing him

After using the Avatar of Death, Keon saw illusory lines and his body instinctively knows what to do. One thread was special from the others and Keon's body move to severe that specific thread

However, the masked man sensed that feeling of death and he used a power that is above what any Level 3 Mystics have

Keon suddenly felt a strong pushing force coming from the masked man as if gravity itself was under his control and his body was thrown heavily to the ground

A five inches human shape crater appeared and if not for Keon's Avatar of Death, he would have died already. Still, this mystic form uses up way too much of his mystic energy

Keon judged before that the Avatar of Death is an Intermediate Grade Mystic Form. However, even though he is already a Level 3 Mystic now, using the avatar still demanded a great deal amount of energy from him

The avatar even dissipated already as it used up all of its power to protect Keon from the masked man's attack

Now, Keon knows that the masked man is really above his level. The blood of before might just be the masked man's way of toying with him and giving him false hope

With an internal chuckle, Keon did his best to drag his beat-up body. He found out that he is actually stubborn. Even in the face of death, Keon still doesn't want to look like a weakling. If he will die, he will die while fighting!

"He doesn't want to kill you" Kreon's voice suddenly rang inside Keon's mind and he momentarily stops in his tracks. What is Kreon saying?

Keon originally doesn't want to believe it but after he looks at the masked man, he suddenly finds three people kneeling at him

The three people were none other than the masked man along with Mady and Gabe. This really gave Keon a huge shock. He thought that Mady and Gabe lose consciousness, why are they suddenly kneeling in front of him?

"Master, we ask for your forgiveness for our earlier rudeness" the masked man said and Keon repeatedly blinks his eyes

Isn't this masked man trying to kill him earlier? Not only was his tone suddenly becomes so respectful, he even addresses Keon as Master

Seeing Keon's puzzled look, the masked man confirmed another thing and he was thankful that Keon doesn't know them

"Master, I know you have a lot of questions but I can't answer them myself. If I linger here for any longer, it might attract the attention of our enemies. This body of mine is merely a projection, I need to leave this instant "

The masked man gave Keon a respectful bow before his body dissipated into nothingness

The shock that Keon receives is messing with his mind and he kneeled down to the ground in exhaustion

"Master!" The two called out in concern and they went into Keon's side to check his condition

Water covered Gabe's palms and he placed it near Keon's body and the man felt that both his injuries and fatigue are healing

"Y-you ... your water also has healing abilities?" Keon exclaimed in shock and Gabe nodded his head

"Most of my powers are sealed but this level of injury is something I can still treat" Gabe answered and Keon felt his head spinning around

Sealed? Then does that mean that the already powerful Gabe was actually even more powerful? Just what is happening?

"Explain! Just what the hell is happening and why are you addressing me as your master?!"

No matter how kind a person is, they will still feel some anger or annoyance after experiencing what Keon experienced

The masked man that attacks him suddenly addressed him as master. Even his two powerful cold roommates suddenly start treating him so respectful and also address him as their master

"M-Master, we can't explain the overall situation to you yet" Gabe answered while moving his head to the side. Keon doesn't know if it was just an illusion but he felt that Gabe is feeling a deep sense of shame

"What do you mean you can't explain?" Keon asked with a frown. "I want to know what is happening, don't leave me clueless here!"

Gabe and Mady looks at each other for some time before nodding their heads

"Master, t-this attack was actually fabricated for you. Do you remember what happened half a month ago?"

Of course, Keon remembered that! It looks like a dream but he felt that it really happened and it also gave him some doubts

Keon nodded his head at that and waited for a further explanation

"At that time, we were attacked by the curse and our bodies experience great pain. Master saw the diamond in my chest, it was a blessing for our people b-but ..... due to a bad thing that happened in the past, it also turned into a curse "

Towards the end, Keon sensed that Gabe felt shamed again. Mady was also in the same state and they can't even look at Keon directly

Keon has a gut feeling that the cause of the shame of these two was exactly the bad thing that happened

"Master, for now, we need to act the same as usual. If not, there is a chance that we will die!" Gabe warned and Keon can only sigh helplessly

How come a normal test suddenly turned into this? Keon felt that his word was turned upside down. He suddenly became the master of his roommates. The two even looks as if they are willing to sacrifice everything including their life for Keon

Not to mention, Keon can also feel the agitation from Kreon but no matter how many times he tried asking what is wrong with his other personality, he didn't gain any answer
