Brendan hated being the King. It wasn't because he wasn't being acknowledged as the King, although he wasn't. It wasn't because the work was too difficult, although it was using up all of his energy. It was simply because he didn't have enough time.

Adrian was busy learning everything he could from Brennant, while Brendan struggled to keep up with the King's workload. He was extremely tempted to redistribute many of the less consequential decisions to the people who were most familiar with the portions of Eks Corp that the decisions would affect. However, his hereditary memory library contained the reasons that the King was personally overseeing most of them.
