Although he had grown rapidly, Lynn was not vain. He still diligently thought for the later half of the night. Even though the potions worked well, they must be combined with meditation to get the most out of it. Since he kept pondering over the issue, he managed to sleep for a mere three and a half hours. After waking up, Lynn received the day's System points. There was a little more, reaching about three hundred and forty.
Lynn added eight half-beast warriors to the army. His legion was now at eighty four soldiers. Since the legion had expanded rapidly, the village was now unable to house all of them. Next to the castle was a row of houses for the servants. As Lynn and Lucy did not bring many servants, six houses were allocated to the warriors.
They did not have a lot of the requirements for an accommodating environment and only needed a place to sleep. They did not stay in the house during the day. I could barely live there before. Yet, right now there were eighty four fighters with a height of more than three meters. Lynn took out a map and arranged a military camp in a relatively remote place in the southwest corner of his territory.
The military camp looked far away from inside the village, but when Maple Leaf Village became Maple Leaf City the camp would be placed at the southwest corner. The area Lynn marked was very large, and became unusable for any other project. It was estimated that the area could accommodate thousands of soldiers, but Lynn's army was limited to a hundred warriors. Yet that would eventually change.
They had to prepare for rain and build strong foundations for their houses to withstand soil erosion. The Half Wolf Legion was very excited to hear that they would get their own barracks. Of course, they would build it themselves. Their strong physical strength made them much more efficient compared to ordinary people.
Lynn did not intend to spend a great deal to build the barracks. It only needed to be a simple wooden house to fit five people for sleeping. They would have to eat elsewhere. When the warriors ate with the villagers, the villagers became nervous as they thought the beasts were eating too happily. There was no way that their food was as delicious as the beasts made it seem.
Now, the soldiers have a seperate space for activity. They have built a lot of houses to live in. After Lynn told them the plans, they went to build the buildings on their own. They were so motivated that there was no need for Lynn to supervise.
Right when he finished arranging the crops, a scout appeared on horseback. After arriving in front of Lynn, the man got off his horse and knelt before him. He spoke in a solemn manner.
"Lord, on the west side of the territory, some people are wandering there. They seem to be exploring the land."
"A noble?" Lynn asked while frowning.
"I am afraid it is, but they did not wear their family's crest. It seems that they do not want you to know their identity."
"They are afraid of Lord Lynn's power," Buno snorted. "They do not even dare to reveal their identity."
The scout looked at Lynn.
"Please give an order. How should we deal with this matter?"
Lynn did not hesitate and called for five half beast warriors.
"The five of you, go patrol the territory. Kill anyone who dares to spy on us."
"Yes, my Lord!"
The five soldiers stormed off. Buno hesitated for a moment, before giving a suggestion.
"If you kill too much, I am afraid it will not bode well for you. Should we be more conservative?"
"The more you destroy them, the more they will fear you. From their fear they will back down and stop causing trouble. Remember Uncle Buno, diplomatic peace is impossible. Only soldiers and magic can bring our peace."
Buno suddenly became enraged. Kill the enemy! Make them afraid to ever set foot in their domain! Send their pathetic existences into oblivion.
"I would like to march with your courage! Place your faith in me, and allow me to kill the enemy!" Buno said firmly. Lynn patted him on the shoulder.
"You have another task. Take the newly brewed wine and go to Frost Maple City to sell it."
"Why do we need to travel so far to sell the wine?"
"The Sla family and I have become enemies, so Sla City is not safe."
"Would they break the rules of trade established by the northern nobles?" Buno frowned.
"The rules are only a game to nobles," Lynn said with a smile. "Listen to me, take the long route. It is better than having the goods detained. Also, you have to help me get civilian clothing."
"I will remember."
Lynn was now a Lord, but he lacked an official noble title that was recognized by the Holy Empire. In his territory, Lynn wore his previous aristocratic attire, but to participate in the magician's assessment he would need civilian clothes. Otherwise, he would insult the nobility at the winter assessment.
As soon as Lynn finished preparing, he noticed some smoke rising in the distance. At first glance, he thought that the cause was the Half beast warriors. Sure enough, the soldiers came back after a while and reported the situation.
They had killed four people and chased away the rest. They shouted Lynn's words that those who dared to spy on the territory would meet death. Lynn nodded in satisfaction. For the time being, there would be no trouble. Once he finished planning the village, Lynn returned to the castle and had Lucy make tea for him. He then accompanied her to the study to meditate on magic.
Three days in a row Lynn evolved a total of sixteen semi beast warriors. The legion finally reached one hundred. Once he finished evolving everyone to a second rank warrior, he began to empower the higher rank warriors. The remaining beasts had a consistent level and a balanced skillset.
This was the way that an army should be structured, having strong leaders and several underlings. Lynn's army had two generals who commanded forty nine soldiers each. Lynn was the leader of the two generals who served under him. This caused the transmission time of news to shorten to an instant.
Lynn looked at the hundred tall, strong half beast warriors. They were all disciplined and could collaborate with each other. The fighting prowess of this legion had reached a fearsome level.
