She walked out of the coffee shop holding a latte with a double shot of caramel and smiled, then she began to read about the man Justin Simmons she was defending who she knew was guilty. This case had taken her days to prepare for but she wanted to make sure she had everything down before she got to the court house today, since she wasn't watching her steps she bumped into someone.
The chest she hit was a broad and sturdy one, looking up from the ground she same a very handsome man standing there with an apologetic expression. His eyes drew her in the beautiful Sapphire with a pink ring she would have thought he was a Wesen if she knew they didn't have eyes like that.
She was even more happy with him when he didn't walk away like an ass but actually stopped and bent down to help her. Though the conversation was short she enjoyed it since it was different and she was looking forward to the coffee date that she had successfully gotten.
While walking away she got a call from Sean, "And how can I help you today?"
"We got word there is a Grimm coming into town soon, Her name is Marie Kessler is is the aunt to one of my detectives when she get here we need to make sure she doesn't leave. She should also have the key on her person." He said getting right to the point.
"What do you need me for don't you have other people to handle this for you?" She asked with a confused face she didn't mind killing but this woman hadn't done anything to her so why should she.
"Come on Adalind, you know there is no one else I could ask to do this. Why don't you come by tonight and we can discuss it in person." He said playing on her emotions she didn't even notice and just felt good that he wanted to see her again.
"Sure, I have court now but I will meet you at your place." She said like a happy school girl, though he was only half a royal he was still a dream boat without it she was always hoping they could be more.
After hanging up she did have a full day of court before she met him at his place, the night was long but they got word that the Grimm showed up and made their plans. She also mentioned seeing Nick to him and about him catching her Woging as she left the office this morning.
The next day she got a message from Beau, cute name, and smiled she was glad that it really wasn't just a passing thing between the two of them she was looking even more forward to the date. She was in court all day today and immediately went back to the office to work more on the case since it came to a stale mate today in the room.
She was so lost in the papers it took a message from Beau bringing her out of it, that is when she noticed her stomach growling in protest but she was to busy to get something to eat. When she was messaging Beau she told this to him and he didn't reply for awhile, that let her go back to her work getting lost in it again.
"Well you know even if you are working late you should still have dinner or your might pass out from hunger." she heard his deep voice saying it was so relaxing that it was putting her to sleep her fatigue of the day hitting her at full force. She looked up surprised he was there and seeing the bag of food in his hand something hit her heart but she played it cool thinking he was just seeing her as a quick thing.
After talking to him for awhile he took off she warned him about the other receptionist though cause he would end up dead on any other night for that. Opening the bag of the second best Taco's she realized she had never eaten there before, before she ate she looked them over and made sure there was no raw tomato on them.
She would have warned him about her being allergic if she knew about it but remembering it was a sweet gesture of him coming to bring her food she didn't dwell on it. Looking over at the receipt she decided to see how much it was and pay him back later, when she looked at the order she was surprised by what she saw though.
He had gotten her two full loaded tacos, minus the guacamole and tomato, she hated guacamole and was allergic to raw tomato and he took them both off without even knowing. Guessing right away he might have a problem with one of the two, though she hasn't had a raw tomato she knew that they were bettered cooked so that might be his problem.
Smiling she finished off the four tacos which surprised even herself but she was happy to get something into her belly. The next day she went to court with a renewed vigor, she also sent Beau a picture of her drinking coffee and a blueberry muffin.
After this day she sent these daily's this becoming their daily ritual, she also crushed that court case even with the man being guilty she was able to get it done. Seeing as she didn't have to meet her next client for awhile she went to lunch after the case was over and try the best taco's according to Beau.
He was right.
The next day was her coffee date with him she was a little nervous and it took her a little longer to get dressed this morning making her almost late. When she walked into the coffee shop she spotted him near the windows and made her way over, this time she looked him over and admitted he was better than Sean.
It also helped with the fact that he was staring at her so heard that it was hard for her to control the blush that was threatening to come up. The rest of the date was great and she was starting to like him more and more but she didn't try and take a next step since she didn't know where her life was headed.
Tonight she had to do the plan that her and Sean had came up with the other day first she needed to go to her moms and get the thing first but then she was good to go. When she got to her mom's they hugged and she offered her dinner which she didn't declined even sending Beau a picture of her sitting down to eat it.
"Who is that for sweetheart?" her mom asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Well," she paused knowing how judgmental her mom could be, "There is this guy and we had a coffee date this morning but that isn't why I sent it to him. The other day I had a big case and couldn't leave the office to go out for dinner so at 1 in the morning he dropped by and brought me food." she looked down and picked at her food waiting for the judgement.
"Really?! What is he like? Do you think he is the one? Are you going to see each other again?" Her head shot up hearing the excited voice of her mother something she didn't expect.
"Mom I don't even know if he is Wesen." she said to her unusual mom.
"Who cares about that as long as you like him," She paused, "Look honey I know you think that I am just being rude when you mention Sean but let's be real he has known you for years but what is your relationship like? He calls and you come running has he even messaged you today for anything other than his plans?"
"What about this new guy look how you already have a private joke between the two of yourselves. And he took the time to actually care and make sure you eat cause I remember when I tried something like that and you nearly bit my head off. All I'm saying is, isn't it better to go after a guy who treats you this way rather than one who only see's you as a tool to use." Her mother finished with an actual gentle smile that she hadn't seen much of in years.
She thought about it and her moms word were right but she still felt like she had a chance with Sean, who knows when this is over they could actually be a couple. "Look mom he is just someone that I went out with once and he will be a good friend but I think me and Sean are close to being a real thing and I don't want to miss that."
Her mom looked at her and in her eyes she saw disappointment, pity, and sadness but it was all quickly gone and replaced with just normal eyes, "Well good for you dear then keep it up." The happiness in her tone now gone replaced by the tone she was use to.
She didn't know why but she felt her chest tight seeing her mother act that way like she just lost something great, she brushed it off though and thought about her real future. That night she went after Nick's aunt and the results didn't turn out like she wanted and all she got was a message from Sean saying he will think of something and nothing else.
Maybe he was just super busy.
Time went by like usual but she never set up a second date wit Beau they talked every day but she was going to hold out for Sean to come around. After two weeks she was still in the same place with the occasional hook up with Sean but she noticed that Beau was pulling back one to many rescheduling's for his liking.
Her mother couldn't help her either when she went for advice just telling her that maybe their time had passed, she read the messages and it was clear to even her the man like her. She didn't want to believe it but it was all there after she reread the messages but for now she could only offer friendship and hope that she didn't lose him for good.
After sending apology messages with no reply she got a little downcast until she had a friend die from some Mellifer who they had shut down recently. She knew that it was revenge but without the cops finding out she couldn't just go to the police station and tell them what it was about.
When the second one died she was brought in and let's just say when Nick Burkhardt found out who she really was he wasn't happy luckily his partner was there for back-up. They didn't stay long Nick messaged someone and they got her to a safe house that wasn't a safe house, imagine her surprise when they end up at Beau's place.
It got even more surprising when she learn what he was but now she was fearing for her life but hearing his words stopped her heart, "I always had a hunch about it, she was always busy even when she wasn't working so I assumed it was one of two things. One she had a boyfriend and was just messing with my emotions and two she was Wesen and was off doing something."
"But it doesn't matter what she is..... She is still my friend first, Nick we might be friends now but she was my friend before you were so know that I will stand up for her first. Adalind, you might feel like I will hurt you but don't worry I couldn't do that you are a really good friend of mine so as long as you don't hurt me or Monroe we are good." he walked away to a window but she couldn't stop looking at his back.
Her heart was trying to beat out her chest and all the emotions she thought she felt for Sean was thrown right to him but she could also she that she was put in the friendzone because of her past actions. Looking at his wide back and shoulders she decided it didn't matter what their differences was after her and Sean finished the plan she would go straight to him and tell him how she felt.
Lost in thought staring at his back she was brought out of it hearing Hank scream from the kitchen, she didn't even move until she saw the door burst open and bees fly in. Knowing she needed to get away she ran quickly heading out the side and into the Alley below, before she could make it far though she was grabbed form behind by a woman and a needle was placed at her neck.
Her blood ran cold if it was before then she wouldn't really be afraid to die but after learning about her feelings about Beau she didn't want it to end like this luckily Nick came. (A/N: Rest is like the episode)
When it was over she quickly went back to Beau's place, she didn't have time to say anything before he took her into a hug that warmed her heart. It felt so good to be cared for this way, she knew what her mom was talking about now, she also felt like she was home in his arms.
She whispered to him which just made him hug her tighter, she could have stayed in his arms all day but Nick ruined it by telling her she needed to go give a statement. As she began to walk out she looked back at him with a smile making sure Nick and Hank were done the hall, "How about another date tonight? I would like to cook for you if you don't mind?" she was actually shy asking.
A wide smile took over his face, "That would be great."
