Chapter 96 - Ways to Start Again

She paused eating then and he brought the box. He placed it in front of her, waiting.

She eyed it unsure then took the box and flipped it open. Her eyes widened in surprise and a glint of happiness flashed in her eyes.

In the box laid her dagger.

"I trust you." His voice creeped into her ears.

"I hope you understand that now."

She looked up at him and smiled then he relaxed in his chair. It felt like a burden had been lifted off his shoulders.

"I will dismiss the guards by your doorstep. You can move freely within the palace, I will place no spy after you and if..." He stopped then and swallowed. What he was about to say felt too much for him but he he had to, he knew.

"If you want to go to the people...you can."

"I...c-can?"

"Yes" he laughed nervously, "but with guards, of course."

She nodded slowly and her smile widened.
