END OF FIRST YEAR

As Harry was facing Quirrell and Voldi for the second time he himself was not that concerned because he knows that Voldi would not be able to bear his touch due to the sacrificial protection left behind by his mom. The plan for this time was to get some time alone with the philosopher's stone so that he could experiment and collect some samples for future knowledge and research. After Hermione became aware that the philosopher's stone would be possibly in their hands she had become excited and began her research.

Hermione had found little about the philosopher's stone and it's usage but Hermione being Hermione had asked every possible teacher on any little information possible, had used the help of the goblin's to correspond with their forgers and fighters to get details on it's applications. The teachers had little knowledge, superficial mostly, but the goblin's had much more. The reason was because the philosopher's stone could make one thing that they loved and respected the most, gold, so they had made sure to research it in detail.

From the information she gathered it was clear that one simply could not use the stone even if one managed to get it for a short period of time. This was due to the fact that it was non breakable and so could not be separated in pieces for experimentation, it took more than a day for a single drop of life elixir to form so getting his hand on any in the short few minutes they will have was not possible and the ability to turn metals into precious metals would as expected require time.

The last few months had been spent by the goblins creating instruments so that they could help Harry in accelerating the process of the stone and viable storage. Goblin's were the best forgers and enchanters in the land and given adequate time and systemic understanding of what was to be its usage they came up with a tool that could accelerate the time process of any object they were stuck to, using the same principles of a time turner but more precise.

Bottles to store the elixir was made and the metals that they wished to convert were formed into uniform balls with initials like S, G or D so that he would know which metals are to be converted into what. This was done because they wanted diverse data on how the compositions change for proper research. The only known stone had been kept from everyone for the past hundreds of years, so this was a rare opportunity to understand a few things.

Quirrell stared at Harry and suddenly a voice came from what seemed to be himself to ask the boy to come near the mirror and try getting the stone. Quirrell used his magic to forcefully get Harry in front of the mirror and like last time harry tried to tell a lie before Voldi informed Quirrell and then he became more forceful. Harry then saw himself getting the stone in his left pocket but this time he did not reach for it so as to not spook Voldi.

Harry pretended to be confused and just like last time Voldi got irritated and impatient and instructed Quirrell to to let him takeover and this was the precise moment Harry had been waiting to attack, because the protection was against Voldi and not quirrell. Harry utilized the time to cast a strong lumos to blind the changing Voldi and the fraction of a second he received was utilised to get close to him and place his hands directly on the face. The body started turning to ash and the wraith left the body and escaped.

After all this planning it was now time to reap the benefits. Harry placed the device on the stone and in ten minutes the first drop of elixir of life was formed. Harry had close to one hour before Dumble's would come due to the fast pace they had taken to reach Voldi and defeat him. The first thirty minutes were spent collecting three drops of elixir and then five minutes for each metal ball to turn in the precious metals of their choice. Five minutes before the hour was up Harry had collected and stored three drops of elixir and five different metals.

After everything was done Harry placed everything in his pouch and stored it in the hidden compartment of his sleeves. This time around Harry was not going to faint and rather act like he was scared and in shock once Dumble's come so that he does not get checked while not knowing. He went towards the ash, kept the stone in his hand and sat beside it with a terrified look on his face.

Dumble's came as was expected and after seeing a still conscious Harry he was a bit shocked because he knew Voldi was here, but after looking the terrified face of Harry he was secretly relieved that he still got to get close and influence the young Potter. He came towards Harry gently carried him in his arms and excited. Harry still pretended to be out of it and had no opposition, after coming to the infirmary he was under observation by Poppy and Dumble's was asked to leave.

It was two days later that Harry stopped acting and Dumble's came to visit him, the conversation went similarly and Dumble's wished him best and then went away. Harry then came to his room, packed and proceeded towards the great hall for end of term banquet and house cup announcement. Harry was late and most first years were already seated but when he came in everyone started pointing and whispering, he did not mind and was greeted by a smiling Hermione but when he looked at the slytherin table he could clearly see the red eyes of Daphne who had no doubt cried herself out in the last two days but had to keep it in because harry had told her to.

Harry smiled reassuringly towards her and one could finally see a bright smile on her face. Dumble's announced the points and Gryffindor was last once again and by a healthy hundred and ten points from the first place slytherin, they had not won the quidditch cup and Harry, Ron and Hermione had not lost points for roaming around after curfew. Just as Slytherin's were about to celebrate he announced that both harry and hermione are awarded sixty points for bravery, courage and knowledge.

The Gryffindor's celebrated, Slytherin's sulked and the rest just enjoyed the feast. The next day Harry had to pack quick and move out because Daphne was super mad on his recklessness and had given him a strict warning yesterday after feast that he is to keep her company all the way till they reached back to london and he could only oblige. Hermione would travel with some other first year girls and they were anyway going to go back together and meet in the holidays.

Harry and the twins said their goodbyes in the common hall at night and Harry already made preparations by informing them to come get him from his relatives house after half a month and not inform their parents as the relatives were nasty and he is treated very badly but he by himself could not leave and Dumble's will approve if he went to the weasley's for rest of the summer.

Everyone boarded the Hogwarts express and that was the end of Harry Potter's first year at Hogwarts.
