Why now?

"Are you crazy"! I was taken aback by the sudden change of attitude in him. What just happened? 

"You got caught! That is what happened"! He snarled at me. I was very confused with sudden turn of events. "Come with me". He dragged me by my wrist outside the café. On my peripheral vision I noticed that the woman from earlier, whom now that I think, could be his assistant, gave us a judgemental look.

"What are you doing! What's going on"! I shouted at him, and probably caught the attention of few people on the road. When we were in a relatively secluded area he let me go and said, "This guy here thinks his wife is gone. How would you explain your sudden appearance to him"? He asked him. From the manner of his speaking I could make out that he was not Timothy.

"Who are you"? I asked him cautiously.

"Carter". My insides burst with anger; nevertheless I held it in and tried to have a reasonable conversation.
