A Lot to Process

The next morning Oliver showed up really early. Even the sun wasn't up yet. He thought, if we go to his house earlier we might find out more as we will have the freedom to look around as we please. Although he wasn't so sure, because Timothy could decide to stay in, or there could be someone else who lived with him, who stayed home. But it was worth a shot. Apparently it was Monday, the busiest day of the week so, it was least likely for anyone to be home.

Oliver again borrowed the same guy's body this time, and apparently borrowed his police car as well.

"Who is this guy? And why do you keep possessing him? Are you attached to him or something?" Ken asked him.

"What the hell!? NO! This is Darryl, the most boring guy in our precint. We used to be partners back in the day, I keep possessing him because it's easier and convenient to posses him, that's all. " Oliver told him.

"Isn't possessing the same person again risky?" I asked him.

"Yes, but this guy doesn't really care much about anything. Believe me, I know him well enough to know that it shouldn't be a problem."

"Right, so he was your human best friend." Ken stated.

"No!" he almost shouted. "I had no human best friend!"

"That's so sad. Don't worry bro, I'm here for you." Ken continued teasing him.

And it didn't stop anytime soon, honestly these two made this road trip really fun. I was actually quiet glad that these two are so close, and sometimes even I joined in for the fun. And just like that as if like an blink of an eye five hours passed by.

It was good, maybe I needed that for whatever I was about to find out.

When we reached his house it was around 11 am. Most people are in their office by now, as Oliver said, so I think it must be safest hour.

"So? You're sure about this?" Oliver asked me.

"Yes, I'm gonna be as thorough as I can this time, I can't chicken out!" I said probably to myself more than I was telling them.

"Okay! We'll wait for you here." Ken assured me.

I entered the building and went straight to apartment number 13, I was happy that no one is actually there. There was no sound or movements in the vicinity. It was complete silence. I decided to check the bedroom since most of the personal stuff are usually kept there.

The room was a bit of messy to be honest, most of the stuff was lying around here and there. I was starting to worry how and where will I begin my search. I decided to go look around for a while, maybe I'll find some pictures or something around here. I found one picture of a baby who was smiling. There there was another one where Timothy was holding a the same baby in his arms, beaming happily at her, with a perfect background of sunset at the beach. I got lost in that photo as if I was present at the moment when it was taken. It made me feel... content.

After taking a moment to recover I explored further. I found another photograph on the other side of the bed which was slightly tilted on the left side. Moreover it was covered by a glass of water which made it difficult to see. So I tried to remove these glass to get a clearer view but unfortunately the frame fell. As I was about to pick it up I heard sudden movement right next to me. Startled I looked at the bed as to what caused the commotion. Turns out it was Timothy and he was still sound asleep as if he was wasted or in a coma. His face was peeking out of the quilt which I guess was covered earlier, so maybe that's why I missed his presence.

Still, he was asleep, so there was no reason I shouldn't look around a little bit more. I just had to be more careful. And even if he did wake up it's not he will actually see me.

But still careful not to wake him up I decided to check out the other rooms. As I was about to go to the another bed room, which was probably a guest bed room. I saw a door slightly ajar to a place which looked like a study. I decided to see what was there. It had a tiny table for one with a chair. There was also a wall full of pictures, probably some of the memories that held some special meaning to him. As I looked at them I stood frozen.

No, I was not mesmerized like I was before. I was shocked. Few of them had one person whom I recognized the most. It was me, the same fair complexion, the blue eyes and even the dirty blond hair, everything exactly the same. And I was smiling in most of them. There was one I think in a wedding dress standing next to Timothy, another one holding a little baby, then another hugging a little girl. All these pictures were so overwhelming. It felt like I was a part of this family once. What was going on? So I am/was Timothy's wife? Then why did he say he was happily married when he was clearly widowed. Even though I have always wanted to find out about me, now that I have I'm... Overwhelmed. What was going on?

"Hey babe!" as I turned around I realized that Timothy was standing at the door clearly looking at me. He could see me! Damn my inability to control my apparition!

"Hey?" I almost asked not sure how to respond. I wonder that how it's completely okay that I'm standing right here when I'm supposed to be dead.

"Are you alright? You look like you have seen a ghost or something." He chuckled.

Well, I did see myself and I'm a ghost. Does that count? Anyways I decided to play along to whatever was going on. "No! Don't be silly. I just thought I'd come and look at these pictures."

"Our wall of memories, never fails to cheer you up. You must have missed me." He smiled. "By the way, where is Momo?" He asked me.

"Momo? You want to eat momo? Now?" I asked him. I swear this conversation just keeps getting weirder and weirder. And he laughed at that which made it even more weird.

"As usual your lame jokes never fail to amuse me." he continued laughing as he approached me. Suddenly I felt his lips on mine for a very brief moment. He gave me a peck before he continued.

"I was talking about our daughter Momo not the dumpling, where is she? Weren't you supposed to bring her?" he asked me. So Momo was our daughter. Okay that made more sense.

"It's Monday. I dropped her off at school."

"I wish you hadn't I missed her. She's only at preschool, why bother? And you! You guys have been gone for a long time." he complained.

Long time? Maybe that's why he thinks I was still alive. He doesn't know. Suddenly I realized something that scared me, then where was our daughter?

"Yeah two months is a really long time." I replied him.

"Well it was four days, but it did feel like two months to me." he chuckled again.

"I've only been gone for four days? " I asked surprised at this sudden revelation.

"Well yeah. You missed me too much didn't you?" He smiled as he looked at me with awe.

What was happening? I've been dead for almost two months now, four days? Am I missing something or am I getting everything wrong. For a moment I thought I had everything I needed to know, but suddenly I'm not so sure.

This was my most favorite part to write till now! What did you guys think? Why did he thinks it's only been four days.
