"Hmm, money," he paused for a second and pretended to be in a deep thought before bursting out in an evil laugh. "Interesting!"
She couldn't understand if he was happy about the offer or was mocking it. Her eyes squinted at him with a frown as he stood up from the chair and walked towards her father.
"No!" She reacted immediately but he ignored it and grabbed a handful of David's hair, pulling them to face him upward.
She saw David's face and let out a choked sob. He had a black eye and his lower lip showed a bruised wound at its corner which had turned the corner of his mouth blue green. His eyes seemed swollen as well and she could not decipher if he was trying to open them.
"I am warning you. Don't touch him." She breathed heavily through her nose. Her body started visibly trembling as she was trying her best not to shift. Though she didn't understand why her father asked her to not shift, she was docile at the moment, unconcerned of the reason.
