Tearful Silence

As soon as we come to a stop, Thane softly places me down and starts checking me over. I try to stop him several times but each time is met with a low growl. He's the one bleeding all over! After checking me over, he looks to my face with a tormented look.

He reaches up and gently touches my cheek causing me to flinch. I guess that cut hasn't healed yet... "Is what he said true? Are you really poisoned?" I look up into his dark eyes with a sad smile and slightly nod my head.

His face twists up as he lifts a shaky hand to my face and asks "Can you heal? Or is there a cure for it? We can go find it." My eyes start to tear as I see tears building in his own eyes. I shake my head again but this time I try to look away.

He gently pulls my head back to look at him but when he sees the tears, he chokes up and quickly reaches up to wipe my tears away. He kisses my forehead and then my nose before pulling me against his chest.
