The echo of familiarity morphs into longing that became too difficult to bear. Zhang Wang sucked in a breath and closed his eyes, finally mustering the courage to push this stranger off.
He rose to his feet and began walking away. He needed space, he needed air and something or someone to help set his head straight.
"Where are you going?" The demon called Half Moon followed after him, even after Zhang Wang drew his sword and took to the skies, Half Moon did not relent, unleashing a cloud of golden dust on which he rode like a steed.
Zhang Wang scoffed, scared that he looked over his shoulder that he might see Yu Yanlin's face. Except it wasn't.
Or was it?
Was it even right to hope? His heart pumped too much adrenaline for any clear thought to form.
