You Have a Good Friend

Yu Yan came to visit in the evening. From the way she dressed up, Feng Mian could guess that Yu Yan had just strolled in the mall, enjoying her rare one week break.

"Feng Mian! I heard that the operation is successful," Yu Yan greeted and hugged Feng Mian.

Feng Mian smiled brightly. "Yes. Thank you very much for coming here."

"It's only natural for me to come visiting," Yu Yan replied. She sat down on the nearby chair and looked at Feng Mian's mother's complexion. "It seems that she's still pale."

"Doctor tells me to watch over her for the time being. We won't want to have any complication because of the operation."

"Right."

"Enough about me. How about you? Enjoying your vacation?" Feng Mian asked with a grin. There was less than a week until new year, but it seemed that Yu Yan was already in bliss.

Yu Yan nodded with a smile on her lips. "Who wouldn't be enjoying the vacation given by that demon president? He's always overworking us so badly by taking several projects. There's even news that he's going to open a new branch in City C and hope for one team from each department to move."

Feng Mian's expression faltered when she heard that news. Even though she knew that Zhang Liang was an ambitious man when it came to his company, she didn't expect him to start expanding his business again so soon. After all, he was also trying to expand his business overseas.

"Are you sure it's not expanding overseas?"

"Even if the company is trying to step overseas, they'll first start to work together and export some types." Yu Yan shrugged. "You're not thinking that they'll try to build a company overseas right away, right?"

"Well, that's possible, right?"

"Unless President Zhang is an idiot, that's highly unlikely."

Feng Mian flashed a bitter smile. Well, it was just her naïve thinking that thought things would work so easily. As Yu Yan explained the steps one needed to expand the business, she started to feel worried. Would one year be enough for Zhang Liang to create a firm position overseas?

The two of them continued to chat for a bit more. When it was nearing the time for dinner, Lin San woke up. She looked at the two girls with a smile on her lips, apparently pleased to see Feng Mian had a friend.

"Mom! You're awake!" Feng Mian rushed to her mother's side. "How are you feeling? Is there any pain or do you feel uncomfortable?"

"This child," Lin San shook her head. "I'm fine. Shouldn't you introduce your friend to me."

"Mom, this is Yu Yan, my team leader."

"I wish you can get healthy quickly, Madam," Yu Yan said with sincerity.

Lin San nodded. She had heard about Yu Yan from Feng Mian's story not long ago. Seeing that the two of them got close, she felt glad that her daughter had a good friend.

"Thank you for coming to visit, Yu Yan."

"It's my pleasure, Madam Lin."

Yu Yan and Lin San exchanged some pleasantries before Lin San kicked the two of them out. Rather than spending time with an old lady like her, they should head to a restaurant and have a hearty dinner. Even though Feng Mian wanted to accompany her mother, she knew that it would be highly impossible.

She proceeded to talk with the doctor while Yu Yan accompanied her.

"Doctor, will there be any problems with my mother?" Feng Mian asked.

The doctor nodded. His eyes held a bit of worry. "Because this is her second operation, we might need more time to observe her body's reaction. If her body refused to work well with her kidney, there might be some future complications. After that, there shouldn't be any problem if you wish to bring her back home."

"Is there anything I need to pay attention to?"

"Yes. She needs to take care of her diet…"

Feng Mian took notes on everything that the doctor said. She could not trust her forgetful brain, so she wrote it all in a document in her phone. She decided to send the list to her mother too because she wanted her mother to know.

Yu Yan watched Feng Mian typed everything on the phone. She waited until Feng Mian finished before she spoke. "You seem to be very caring of your mother."

"She's my only family, so of course I care for her."

"Didn't you say that you have a brother?"

"Forget about him."

A brother who had never returned back home in nearly a decade. Feng Mian decided to just forget about him. She was not even sure how he looked like now because she had not seen him for so long. The last image she knew about him was his 18 years old picture when he had just graduated from High School and then left their house.

Yu Yan nodded. "In any case, let's eat dinner together. I'll pay."

"Eh?" Feng Mian thought about Chef Lu. Would she prepare dinner for her and Zhang Liang? But upon seeing Yu Yan's expression, Feng Mian decided to think about it later.

"What, don't say that you want to pay when you're already paying so much for your mother. Let's go."

"Ok. Ok."

Feng Mian followed Yu Yan. The two women chatted as they ate their dinner. Afterwards, Feng Mian persuaded Yu Yan to go home first before she headed to the parking lot and returned back to Zhang Family Residence.
