With my back pressed against the tall white pillar, I waited for her to approach me. I was beginning to feel anxious, not because she wasn't going to come. I was sure that she would find her way to me. I was rather getting anxious because she was taking so long to find her way to me.
'She couldn't have changed her mind, right?'
I questioned myself. I was starting to question my actions, the little stunt I had pulled on her just a little while ago. But I needed a way to make sure that she would come and talk to me. I could have cornered her against a wall, but that wouldn't have been so gentleman-ly of me. It was better this way.
My eyes trailed to the notebook which in my hand and my lips curled up in a faint smile as her face from earlier flashed before my eyes. Those squinted eyes and the threatening glare which she was throwing my way when she saw me grabbing her notebook from a distance, was enough to send shivers creeping up someone's spine. But not me. I found them intriguing.
I owed a thanks to that girl who helped me out in my little stunt. If it wasn't for her asking for help from Amara, she would have never left her belongings scattered on the grass like that. And I wouldn't have gotten the chance to grab her notebook. I had never done something like this in my entire life. Imagine an angel stealing things for his own selfish gains! That angel was me.
"What do you think you are doing?"
A threatening voice entered my ears before the owner of the voice made her way into my vision.
"How dare you steal my notebook?" She questioned me as she threw a crumpled ball of paper on my face. Not wanting to litter the hallway, I caught the ball before it could tumble down on the floor.
"I didn't steal it." I spoke up in my defense. Well, it wasn't a complete lie. I didn't steal her notebook. I kinda borrowed it for a while. And I even left a note for the lady to read along with some instructions about where she might find me. Hence, my actions could not be labeled as stealing.
'Keep believing that!'
A voice rang inside my head with which I was way too familiar. It was my own subconscious. Like always, it had just the perfect timing to wake up from its deep slumber and mock me.
"Oh! You took my notebook first before dropping that stupid note of yours. I don't know what to call it if not stealing." She let out a complaint to which I could only scratch the back of my head.
"Come on! It's just a notebook. And I swear, I haven't opened it. I just needed to have a word with you. After what you did yesterday, I knew you won't talk to me normally." I decided to shift the topic to her in order to save myself from going through a guilt trip, and thus, I confronted her right away.
"If you needed to talk to me about yesterday, you could have just said so." She spoke up while squinting those precious orbs of hers.
"You will have your notebook back once you have answered my question." I spoke up as I tried to strike a deal with her. I was shocked to see how she was at ease when I brought up her leaving the game right away in the conversation. It was like she had no guilt about her actions.
"Okay! Ask away." She shrugged her shoulders in a 'go-ahead-I-don't-care' way, which only left me speechless.
"Umm.. sure!" Recovering my composure, I decided to come straight to the point.
"Why? Why did you do what you did yesterday? Why even bother coming to the game when you didn't bother staying for a couple of minutes? If something important did come up, you could have at least informed me, or any of my friends there."
After shooting all of the questions which had been bugging me since the previous day, in one go, I took in a deep breath to push my raging anger back in the whole it had crawled out of.
I couldn't comprehend why she had such an impact over my emotions. The more time I spent with her, the more clear it was becoming for me that she had ought to be my soul mate.
"I thought you had a 'question' to ask me, not 'questions'." She gave me a skeptical look while raising an eyebrow at me. Just when I thought she would walk away from me and wouldn't bother answering to me, she spoke up once again.
"Look! I am sorry about it. But my actions were totally a simple reaction to a certain thing. I freaked out a little by it, that's all." She spoke up as a frown became evident in between her eyebrows, forming a small 'w'.
"Reaction to what?" I couldn't help but be curious. But at the same time, I was elated to know the fact that it wasn't because of me. Whatever the reason was, we could work on it.
"You have already had your questions, give me the notebook." She extended her right palm towards me, demanding through her mystical orbs for me to give me.
I gave her a smile at first before shaking my head in a no as I raised my hand which was holding her notebook up in the air.
"Answer me first. What was it? I want to know." I gave her a lop-sided grin when I saw the rage building up in her eyes, breaking through the calmness of her expressions.
I saw her stomping her foot on the floor as she stepped closer to me. "Give it back to me." She threw deathly glares at me, but I refused to give in. Her little flared up temper could never force me to step down.
"Don't make me repeat it again." She hissed through her teeth as she gave me a warning.
"Or else?" I gave her a challenging smirk as I could clearly see my victory within the grasp. "Or else what?" I pushed her a little more, which only forced her to step closer to me as she raised her hand up in the air to grab the notebook.
I smiled at her while snaking my other arm around her waist. I pulled her into me without holding back my strength. "Show me what else you can do except for these mere threats." I challenged her as I pressed her figure against mine.
