Four days after we set Mr. Grieves to my Brother's laboratory and I think he's already on the field by this time now. After a few minutes of our daily roll call. Our team began the testing within a controlled environment and see if the current mixture is effective when exposed to the elements of which we simulated for a few hours. The mass testing has begun and reports are getting sent to Oxford for evaluation. As far as I'm concerned now is that the causes of death in Britain are certainly similar to those of the numbers from centuries ago... It's just a coincidence, calm down now Hailey. You need to face this fact that you're going into with a face that will handle this. Nothing wrong with me I guess, this is how I'm supposed to expect this. I know that everyone's heart isn't the same when tackling this kind of problem but my heart will carry this well I hope so...
Meanwhile in the Surface...
"Alex, check air condition and quality." "Sure thing. Checking the atmospheric condition... Analysis complete, the air quality is really poor due to the plague and a normal healthy human can survive this air for 48 hours in life expectancy before they'll get infected. It is possible to breathe normally in these conditions though immediate medical check-up is required after getting exposed to the plague-filled air." "Thanks, Alex." I didn't expect that this is the result of the plague after a few weeks... And dead bodies on the street is just a sad sight to see. I better get out of Britain since the signal that was seen during that phone call was outside Britain towards Germany... Or Lil' Miss Hailey would be worried that a man is running around the earth trying to kill her for the medicine she's making. Better make those heads count then.
Hours later...
So this is Germany huh... The streets are empty but the sky is clearer than Britain I guess they know that this is coming. I guess let's get to the nearest contact that Nathan gave me. It's the first time I got this scared over a quiet town. No, a quiet country. I didn't expect that a strong country such as Germany can get this quiet over a plague. Sure everyone is afraid of the plague but this emptiness in the streets it's overkill, to be honest. Then I saw a van parked near a petrol station as the Europeans call it. Then the window of the van rolled down and asked me. "Hey, are you operative the Brits said?" I replied. "Yeah, I'm the guy." The man replied. "Get in we got business to talk about." I entered the van and left. "I've never seen another Project Arbiter soldier in years. You're one serious soldier then, I mean I've never heard Nathan be that serious sounding while talking. So we picked up the signal from that phone call you've had about that death treat and we've pinned down the location and its around the outskirts of town near a forest. So your name is Lt. Porter we've found your name in our database saying you're an ex-marine specialist and a squad leader of the known squad named the 'S.S Hunters' from all of your services in the Americans I guess you are more than capable to be a candidate for the Project Arbiter. A theory of super-soldiers, dreaming a perfect army that was the Project's main goal but since only a few people that have the physical capability of handling another 200% increase in their already deadly skill in the battlefield. Say we'll drop you off here I'll send a contact to your AI friend there to call after you finish your job on that location. It's just a call for our corpse clean-up crew in case it ends up in a firefight, any questions?" I replied. "Heh you looked into my history but those times are horrible, to be honest. The reason why that squad dissolve is because of the lack of members or so it did have. We started with 60 and ended up with only 5. Poor kids who didn't survive our three-year-long tour of duty. But I'm still here alive with my sanity intact surprisingly none of us returned to fighting after those horrible disconnected three years of duty. Hopefully, I can give my last friend his proper burial." Then the driver said. "5 minutes before we're at the drop-off," I replied. "Well that's my call now, tell me anything if there's anything that pops off like intel or something." The operative in the van nodded at me and after five minutes I was dropped off and prepared to engage the location. But before I went in guns blazing something came up in my head and waited before I start my mission. Alex which is my assistant in the field suddenly told me something. "Sir, I've scanned the area you're going too. I have to warn you about the traps that are placed in the area I'd advise for you to go and head at the back entrance where the are fewer traps than the front lawn. Also, be advised that the traps are landmines and pitfalls so be careful." I replied. "Thanks for the heads-up Alex." I walked towards while scouting the area and looking for good entrances and exits. ten to twenty minutes later I started the mission and entered the house from the back. Since the house is well lit and the forest doesn't enter light that well I found the breaker room and turned off the electricity for a surprising entry. That, of course, alerts the guards inside so I brought up my silenced M93R with my knife and started to take down those guards while being hidden at the darkness of the house thanks to the built-in night-vision mode in my helmet. After another few minutes of finding the target in the house to my surprised it's just a young man, so I asked him. "Hey, kid are you the one in charge in this operation?" The kid replied. "Y-yes? Please don't kill me!" Of course with a bit of anger and confusion because he's a kid. "Who told you to do this? Why are you doing this?" The kid replied. "I'm just a transcoder!! I swear I don't know anything! I'm just their messenger I don't know about
them!" Tch... This Kid was forced into doing these kinds of work unacceptable but I need this kid asleep so I did and reported the findings I got. "This is the American I need a cleanup crew and a paramedic a kid fell unconscious here I never thought of they started to use kids as messengers. Reporting from the forest." I left the forest to the designated place they gave me to stay. "The atmosphere did change in weeks does take a toll on people's sanity. I sure that Young Miss finds to put this mess of a biological for that I won't let Young Miss die until this ends."
Meanwhile back in Britain...
I never thought this would be hard... We went through and tested and we had no chances of survival with every test subject... What do I need to do to perfect this! I don't want to let everyone die anymore from this sickness. I still have my theory to perfect! I can't just comprehend this situation where did we go wrong in the mixture... So I said to my team that I'll be grabbing some samples on the surface on those who died on the surface. Going on the surface feels like I'm reading my great-great-grandfather's biography and living through it. As I stepped outside of the research entrance on the surface with the air being this thick it formed some kind of fog that it's hard to see through, good thing that I have a thermal scanner to check if there are any living people up here. But from what I can see most of them are... Dead, their bodies are cold but they feel weird like their
insides are in this liquid state. I remembered what my great-great-grandfather once wrote in one of his archives that one of the possible deaths of this disease is complete internal organ failure and meltdown of internal organs. Their bodies might look normal and not pale but if you feel their skin like I check a person I come across to check if his lungs are intact, but... There was nothing to touch nothing but a liquid. After feeling it I feel like throwing up after seeing inside his mouth with nothing
but his teeth and his tongue missing must have been melted too... The person's head is also softer than a newborn's head. This is horrible and disgusting I never thought that they will die without warning and pain, but then again I remembered something... One of the books my parents told me I shouldn't read is one of my great-great-grandfather's books on 'How to Execute Death-Row Inmates with Painless and Potent Medicine' and in one of them is a medicine that is exactly what the plague can kill a person with. Same outcomes one is a virus and the other is a man-made medicine made to execute death-row inmates... With that in mind, I took some samples from the liquified organs from a dead person on the side-walk. I loaded up in samples from every type of person, gender body, and age. I returned to the lab with a deep thought of the connection of my great-great-grandfather's execution medicine and this virus... I can never know until try I guess. I am digging my own grave with this experiment I'm planning on.
Sorry guys for a long update. I've been busy with my family and I haven't been active in writing but I'll still write as much as I can during these hard times. I'm still open to suggestions and opinions about the story just comment down and I'll read them! Your comment is important for the greater good of the story.
