Small joys

I love to cook and with time I have improvised, I don't have any spare money with me as he never gives us any money. Every day he just brings us meager supplies and necessities, he always forget to pay school fees , bills. But I try to find joy in small things. Today I decided to bake something, dew loves my baked cookies, cake and breads. Cooking has become my only hope, sometimes I share my eatables with my neighbours also. They always praises me. Both are back from school and are doing their homework. Someone knocked on the door ,I opened it and it was my neighbor Alicia. I invited her in and offered her tea and some cookies. She requested me if I can bake some cookies and cake for her daughter's birthday. She said her daughter insisted it as she likes my goodies a lot. She is even ready to pay me. I called Sarah and asked her opinion as I am not sure about the decision. She is quite mature ACC to her age. She instantly said yes, that we ll do it. She brought her notebook and started writing the order. Alicia was very happy and told us about her requirement. I don't ve the supplies for this much order. She gives us some advance and ask for the proper charges. Sarah told her and she agreed. After she left, Sarah told me how will we manage it. She was happy for me, and I was happy just by looking at her. She called Dew and they both decided to make a menu. Dew brought drawing papers, colours, glitter pens and his art supplies. Both asked me about the items I can bake in my oven. I told them that I can make cupcakes, cakes, breads, lasagna , cookies, biscuits , snacks. They both themselves decided prices ACC to the raw material cost. I was busy in preparing dinner, after dinner we wrote down the ingredients list which we ll need. They both insisted to help me after school. Today is Monday and I ve to make everything ready by Thursday. I am not sure if we ll be able to do it or not but I want to go give it a try for Sarah and Dew. Next day I went to market for supplies,I searched for good quality ingredients at affordable prices. It took me 3 hours just to buy everything. I bought some things from the wholesale market. After coming back from school and completing their homework, they came in kitchen to help me. Sarah measured everything, dew did petty tasks. We had so much fun as it was our new way of bonding. Next two days went by a blur. That Thursday I delivered everything at Alicia's house and after meeting her own satisfaction, she gave me the remaining payment. And it was the best feeling of my life. It was not that much, but I felt so joyous, so thankful and content. I bought Sarah and Dew their favourite ice creams as a treat. They both were very happy for me and I understood that sometimes small things can give us so much joy that words can never comprehend it.
