The Swords and The Desire To Protect..........

Tora Syno opened his luminescent green eyes as sunlight poured in from his bedroom window, lighting up the inside of his rather tiny room. Thousands of thoughts flashed through his mind as he sat up in bed, before landing on the one idea he had been focusing on since going to bed last night. Today was the day that he officially tried out for UA, the day where he would finally be able to show the world what he was made of. However, that was still a while away, as Tora pushed it to the back of his kind and jumped out of bed.

However instead of jumping in the shower or washing up like normal kids did, Tora lay on the ground, placed his palms flat on the floor and began his daily workout. He generally woke up super early every morning to go jogging but as it was a special day he had let himself sleep in and catch a few much needed extra hours of sleep. His workout consisted of 75 pushups, 60 situps, 70 squats, and a 5 mile run, a routine he had been following for nearly three years.

The reason for this was because of his quirk, and the mechanics behind it. In this world there existed powers that were known as quirks, special abilities that were usually unique to each separate person. With a world that had super powers, there were people who abused them and took advantage of others, which rose the need for heroes. It was this profession that Tora constantly strove towards, it was what he wanted to be in the future. This is what brought everything full circle back to quirks, the key to becoming a prominent superhero.

Being a superhero was extremely dangerous as they had to constantly risk their lives to fight against strong villains who could potentially create havoc and mayhem. Therefore if one didn't have the qualifications such a powerful or useful quirk, you could forget about trying to become a hero, and this was where Tora's quirk came into play. Tora had the ability to totally and utterly negate the quirk of whoever approached within his negation field. This field was extendable depending on much energy Tora put into it and his current limit was up to a full mile. It didnt matter how strong the quirk was, anyone who entered his field would find themselves as a completely quirkless human. However, the catch was that everyone would not only lose their quirk, but also their ability to fight if they werent mentally strong or sufficiently determined. While it seemed like a quirk that couldn't be bested, there were actually very risky drawbacks to it, such as if Tora used it for too long then he would run the risk of passing out.

Once he used his quirk, in simple terms, things would basically become a simple street fight. This was why Tora was constantly training himself and immersed himself in martial arts and other forms of self-defense that could prove useful. He wanted to be a hero and strove to do his best to meet that goal each and every day.

After he finished his final squats, Tora went to the bathroom and hopped into the bath, washing the sweat off his body and scrubbing his favorite shampoo into his hair. He was excited for the day, where he kissed his middle school days goodbye and welcomed the future. Those ten months he had been waiting had felt like absolute torture, but now he was more then ready to take on anything that came his way.

Stepping out of the shower, Tora dried himself off quickly, running the towel through his fluffy white hair and all over his body before tossing it aside and travelling over to his dresser. He picked out an outfit that he thought was appropiate and slipped it on. Today was a special day, and it was one where he would look his best.

After checking himself over in the mirror, Tora nodded at his black button down tshirt and his black shorts before turning and walking out his bedroom door heading for the dining room where a delicious aroma was emanating from. In front of the stove, a mature looking woman was flipping pancakes while humming a rather strange tune.

"Hey Aria," Tora said as he took a seat at the table which already had a plate of pancakes all set and ready. "You seem rather cheerful." Picking up the knife and fork, Tora dug into the food with great zeal, always loving the food that his family's maid would make for him.

"Good morning Tora," Aria responded, turning her head and giving him a brilliant smile. "Glad to see you up and about." She turned back and continued to flip the pancake until it was a nice shade of brown, sliding it onto a nearby plate that held a number of other pancakes. "And of course I'm happy, today's the day that you made the entire Syno family proud and try out for the number one hero academy, U.A High."

Tora swallowed his food before replying. "It isn't really that big of a deal if I'm being honest. I dont even know if I'm going to get in or not as I'm sure their will be a number of other people who can fight even without their quirks."

Aria shook her head as she watched Tora finish up his food. "Youll do great, of this I'm sure of.....which actually reminds me of something, your parents wanted me to give this to you." Aria turned off the stove and walked away around the corner. Several minutes later she returned with a long rectangular box with a padlock that required a thumbprint.

"This was left to you by your parents before they left to go and save lives. They had it customed made after you finished your two year course in it. There isn't anything else in the world quite like it, and it will only open to your fingerprint." Aria's eyes shined with expectation as she slid the apparently rather heavy case over to Tora, who gazed at it with amazement.

Tora stared at the box for a few seconds, letting his brain process the information before it finally caught up. Stretching out his thumb, Tora lowered it towards the lock and pressed it against the pad. A green light went up and down over his thumb before the lock let out a small whirr and popped open with a click. Taking a deep breath to prepare himself Tora pushed the top of the case up and peered at what was inside.

Inside lay two sheathed swords, one sheath was pitch black while the other was aqua colored, each one displaying their own radiance even while they were in the case. As if to make sure they were real, Tora reached out and ran a hand across the surface of the pitch black sheath, in complete awe.

"How much did these cost?" Tora asked as he picked up the black one, feeling the weight of it in his hands. It was perfect, not too heavy but also not too light, as if it was custom made just for him, which it undoubtedly was.

"Your parents didn't really specify but they did say that the item was the first of its kind and basically indestructible. They said that one was called Yin and the other was called Yang." She explained as she watched Tora's reaction.

Tora, pleased to have such a unique gift, began to unsheath the sword but was stopped by Aria's hand. "You shouldn't take it out." After she said this she sat back into her chair with a serious look on her face. "Remember these words Tora....Never draw your swords for any reason except for the desire to protect. Only when you have something or someone to protect must you pull out your weapons."

"Desire to protect?" Tora repeated questioningly, wanting to understand what she was getting at. "What kind of things are you referring to?"

"There are many things that one can protect," Aria explained as she stood up from the chair she and been sitting in. "Friends, Family, loved ones, Ideals, goals, a way of life, the list goes on!!! It doesn't necessarily matter what your protecting but that your simply fighting to protect, and once you decide on what you want to protect, make sure that you commit to it."

"Okay, I got the that you need to protect something before fighting but what do you mean to commit?" Tora asked.

"It simply means that you dont give up protecting it after just one try." Aria responded, cleaning up Tora's plate from in front of him and walking to the sink. "After you protect that something or someone you keep on protecting it with all your might. It becomes your responsibility, you must face it with a strong resolve and complete focus."

Tora mulled over her words in his head for a bit before he was snapped out of it by a light tap from Aria. "If you dont hurry then you'll be late for the entrance exam." She said as she pointed up at the clock on the wall.

Seeing what time it was, Tora laughed as he placed the sword back into the case and closed it, locking it up once again. "We only live 5 blocks away from UA, Aria, I can make it even if I walk." Standing up from the table, Tora walked over and placed a kiss on Aria's cheek. "Thanks for the gift, I'll see you when I get back home today."

Aria simply smiled as she watched him walk out the door and shut it behind him. Smiling to herself, Aria waited a couple minutes to make sure he was gone before pullling out her phone and dialing a number.

"Hey Toshinori, its me Aria," Aria said with a smug smile. "The young man I was telling you about will be trying out for the school today, make sure to keep a close eye on him and you'll see just how heroic and suited this male is for your quirk." She switched the phone between her hands in order to grab her coat. "His name? Well that should be obvious."

She walked to the window and looked outside to see that Tora had, in fact, not made it to the end of the block. "His name is Tora Syno, the next number one hero."

Used Kirito's swords as Tora's new swords so dont freak out too much
