The Covenant

Once Izzy spoke the fairy's name, a burst of light followed after her words and purple light shot out from the phone's screen, trapping the fairy in its place.

The wind subsided and the phone displayed.

[ Would you like to force Theonymphi Antonopoulou into a servant covenant?

Yes or No]

" Yes" Izzy spoke and the light swirled around the fairy screamed but all it sounded like was the ringing of bells.

Theonymphi felt tingles all around his small body as a covenant link between him and Izzy was made. He tried desperately to deflect the contract from forming but the magic used was unlike anything he had encountered before.

This magic was extremely complex and dense.

Theonymphi had only intended to make Izzy his but never expected this seemingly weak girl to retaliate.

" Stop!" Theonymphi cried as the purple light engraved itself onto his skin. Once the light ceased, a series of glowing symbols imprinted on Theonymphi's wings shone. The symbols were in a strange language that Theonymphi was not familiar with.

He frantically inspected his arms and wings and in anger shot forth like a bullet towards Izzy.

" How dare you!"

He collided with something and bounced back a mechanical voice sounded out.

[ Contracted servant Theonymphi Antonopoulou. Has attempted to attack the host.

Would the host like to enforce punishment?

Yes or No?]

No, Izzy clicked. She didn't want to hurt the fairy and incur more of its hatred that she could feel through their link.

Izzy sighed " Look I only did what you intended to do to me" she explained.

Theonymphi fumed and angrily cursed her out.

" You lowly human being! This is unfair! I will exact my revenge on you!" he declared.

Izzy rolled her eyes " That's rich" she scoffed " You tried to force me into this covenant thing first. Now when I retaliate you claim it's not fair?"

The fairy stopped its shouting, he pursed his lips. It was true that he had started it first but he had assumed that Izzy was a powerless human. It was beyond his expectations that she possessed such complex magic. Despite having no magical power level.

Theonymphi huffed in frustration, this girl clearly had a high power level but he couldn't detect anything. Even now as he inspected her she was a wastrel in magical terms.

' She is probably hiding her power' he thought.

He sneered at her, thinking she was a very cunning person. She had lured him out begging him to heal her friend when clearly she herself could've done it. Theonymphi sighed inwardly at letting himself be taken advantage of by none other than a human.

" You make a good point" he admitted much to his disdain.

" Since there is nothing to be done about this. I can only serve you well until you decide to release me" he muttered.

Izzy nodded " If you serve me well I might even release you sooner than you'd expect".

" Izzy you're alive" a manly voice spoke and Izzy turned around to see that Ruben had awakened.

Theonymphi immediately camouflaged himself, his translucent skin bending into his surroundings.

" Ruben you're awake" Izzy happily ran over to his side, Ruben inspected himself and felt no pain.

He looked confused " I'm healed" he stated in disbelief.

He was sure that he was going to die. Izzy rubbed her nose, " A kind soul passed by and healed you" she said loudly. Through her connection, she could feel Theonymphi scoff and giggled under her breath.

Ruben looked over at the bloodied smiling Izzy and couldn't believe what she was saying.

Most people would never heal such an injury out of pure generosity but his non-existent injuries proved otherwise. He knew that Izzy could not have been the one to heal him, as she had no power from when he had inspected her.

" Whoever this mysterious master is, I would like to thank him in the future," Ruben said.

' Of course, it was this master here' Theonymphi spoke arrogantly to Izzy from his connection to her. Izzy heard him and ignored him, helping Ruben to stand as he looked over himself.

" There's not even a scar," Ruben said beaming at how well he had been healed.

" Yeah, but I think our most viable option now is to get out of here," Izzy said and Ruben nodded in agreement.

" Yes let's go" he set off immediately. Luckily it was still early in the day and they walked for a long while as the sun rose further into the sky.

Ruben suggested they pace themselves since his pack had been destroyed under the tiger's attack, so they had no resources. Izzy agreed but she now had Theonymphi with her, who reluctantly helped them find food and avoid other dangerous creatures.

It was mid-afternoon when Izzy and the bloodied Ruben emerged from the forest. When they walked out Izzy realised they were staring over at a valley. Below them were people in the fields ploughing and houses with smoke rising from the chimneys in the distance.

Izzy rejoiced and jumped up on Ruben, who smiled, also joyful from escaping his near death experience. Izzy followed Ruben who led her down a path and they descended down the hill they stood upon.

' Ugh human civilisation' Theonymphi lamented and Izzy continued to ignore his comments.

Once they got into the town, people looked at them strangely, more precisely they looked at Izzy strangely. She was dressed in jeans and a long torn and bloody shirt. Her clothes differed from the common female clothing of dresses and long skirts.

The people's stares were the least of Izzy's worries as she followed Ruben into a large wooden building. The building had a sign hanging on the front.

That Izzy looked up at trying to make out the symbols, eventually the symbols seemed to rearrange themselves before her eyes.

" The Wallowing Tavern" she read and walked inside behind Ruben.
