"That would be too risky. I think we should pack the important supplies and drive away, and come back to the house when the zombies are gone." It was a pretty drastic difference between the Jay right now and the Jay people usually see on stream.
Afraid to lose any of his brothers, he didn't want to take any risks and thought that it would be safer on the open road since most zombies should be coming to their backyard now due to the yacht's engine running and the zombies banging on the fence.
After exchanging a look, the group immediately went to pack. Each of them bought a big bag pack, packed some food, water, and all the bullets and arrows. With the bow and rifle strapped over their shoulder, the group also remembered to pick up some melee weapons before they stepped out of the door.
Jay pocketed the butterfly knife he always played with and a katana he got on his trip to Japan; Christian brought his baseball bat; Elon brought a spading fork he found in the garage; and Alex brought the katana he bought from a Chinese mall because he thought Jay's katana looked cool but he didn't want to spend a couple thousand bucks as Jay did.
The katana Jay bought all the way from Japan was said to be crafted by a mysterious material that was even tougher and more durable than carbon steel. With hell-fire-like patterns on the hamon (the blade's hardening line), the 40 inches devilish purple blade was as sturdy as it is beautiful.
In comparison, Alex got his for $69.99 from Amazon. Oh its name? Black Dragon Awesome Collectible Katana Samurai Bleach Sword. The description of this sword was not bothered to be written, because this piece of trash would not survive more than a few chapters.
So the group rush out of the front door, jumped over the fence, and got into their car that was parked on their neighbor's lawn.
Thank god for Tesla, no engine sound, the car could just pull speed out of its a$$ and take off. Being quiet meant no zombies were going to come looking for them, but that didn't mean that the car was stealth.
Seeing such a big target on the move, nearby zombies also began walking after it. Maybe it was because the windows were tinted and tightly shut, the zombies weren't able to see or smell the humans inside, so they didn't activate steroids mode and chase after the car like Usain Bolt.
However, the obstacles on the road were already giving the squad enough of a hard time. Not to mention the boxes that landed in the middle of the road, there were collapsed house debris or light posts, as well as abandoned cars.
Jay may be a good driver, but it was just physically impossible to get far with a road condition like this. Besides, they also had no destination in mind.
Get to the bridge and leave the island? But to where? The islands are already a gated community isolated from Miami South Beach, it would only get more and more chaotic and dangerous once they leave this place.
The group decided to just find a place that seemed to be unoccupied, find some supplies, and make some noise to attract zombies. Then, hopefully, when they get back to their own house, the zombies by their backyard fence would have already been attracted to the new noise they made a couple houses down the street.
They stopped by a house where the gate was open and the side of the place was destroyed by the landing of a crate. It did look like the zombies already cleared out this house and left through the opened gate.
The group quietly closed the gate, then prepared themselves as they entered into the house to make sure that the area was clear.
The first floor was quite empty, there was no basement, and there's a door leading to the upper floor which seemed to be locked.
"Oh crap, do you think someone's up there?" Christian whispered.
Jay quietly said, "To anyone that might be up there, we are just a group that stumbled in here by accident. Can we borrow the first floor for maybe half an hour? We will leave shortly and won't take any of your supplies."
"Mommy..." A little girl's voice was heard.
Pa! The sound of a loud slap followed.
Then, the door opened, and a big bearded burly man with an M16A3 assault rifle walked down. Behind the half-closed door, they could see a terrified woman shivering and tightly holding onto a little girl in her arms.
"Ayyy, how's it going..." Christian tried to lighten the mood...
"Who the f*ck are you guys?" the big man interrogated as he held the M16A3 with one arm and pointed it to Jay, who seemed to be the leader of the group.
"Sorry sir, we just live down the street. Our house was overrun by zombies, so we had to drive out but then there was nowhere to go. We planned to just find a safe place to temporarily settle down for a bit, then we will go out and find a parked car to try and set off its alarm. We were hoping that the car alarm would attract the zombies in the area to one corner of the island, and then we could reclaim our house and repair the fence," Jay politely explained.
However, the big man didn't seem to welcome them at all. Perhaps threatened by the fact that he was outnumbered, he demanded, "Put your sh*t on the floor, and then we can talk."
Becoming a bit more vigilant of the unfriendly man in front of them, the group hesitated.
"Hurry the f*ck up, or I will blow your cap off!" The man grew more impatient and he held the gunpoint directly against Jay's head.
From the corner of Jay's eyes, he could see the woman upstairs making a praying gesture with her hands and signaling that she didn't know the guy.
"Guys, do what he says. But by the way bro, I suggest you don't fire that. It's only going attract more zombies, making it more difficult for all of us. Although I closed the gate for you, the fences won't be sturdy enough to withstand the zombies, because that was how our house got overrun," Jay patiently explained, attempting to calm down the man in front of him.
