Securing the Water

As I thought, Khardin started his movements around midnight. He got some of his retinue to cordon off the pond that contained Holy Spring Water, and started siphoning it out. I need to get in there somehow.

I send a LV10 Skeleton Warrior towards the guards. Luckily, there was a lone scout that I could kill without arousing any attention.

After killing him, I turn him into a zombie, before telling it to lead me to the pond.

I also shape my armor to copy the knights that are in Khardin's retinue. This way, no-one will suspect anything, and I can start storing the water in my inventory.

The only problem is if Khardin will personally supervise this process. Even if he doesn't on this first night, once he hears that the water goes missing, he'll definitely do so afterwards.

As I thought, the only way I can do this is if I kill Khardin first. Enough of my future plans for now. I need to start storing the water.

The guards around will look at me weirdly if I just stare and the pond and the water starts decreasing, so I need a distraction.

Perfect. I release all 36 of my other Skeleton Warriors and have them fight the guards. They are unable to raise the alarm, since that would mean stopping the water extraction.

Khardin also obviously doesn't want Olaf to know about the attack, so he might be doing something under the table. Seems like he's smarter than he looks. Or maybe he's dumb enough to hold something against the Church. Either way, he'll be dead soon.

With the guards distracted, I can begin storing the water. Ed opens a portal to his storage which is about the dimensions of a person, and lowers it into the water. Immediately, the water starts gushing into it. I can also feel the water entering the storage with my consciousness.

The description of the water said that I can get a god's or a goddess's blessing if I drink enough, but how much is that?

Maybe the Church wants to get more blessings. If they've figured out the amount required, they could possibly have an army made up entirely of blessed soldiers. How frightening.

All the more reason to stop the Church's current scheme. I wouldn't want them to get so strong that I have to cull them again.

After a couple of minutes, all the water is drained. The guards are having a hard time against my Warriors, especially since they have no blunt weapons and my skeletons are as hard as orichalcum. Kind of overpowered if you ask me.

Since my task is done, I slip back out of the pond with the scout and recall my Warriors.

All in a good night's work. I return to my room once again and start making new Warriors. I'll need all I can get in the upcoming fight with Khardin and Olaf.

The next day, Khardin's gloominess meant that he had found out about the water incident. However, I believe that my disguise was good enough that he can't even begin to suspect any of the adventurers. The only thing he knows is that someone who is capable of Necromancy is present in the group.

Perhaps he's thinking of capturing the Necromancer to get on the good side of the Church.

Though, I am that Necromancer. He doesn't even spare a glance in my direction. He just thinks of me as a flimsy adventurer who has no backbone. Perfect! I knew my disguise would work.

By the next night, I had produced another 20 LV30 Skeleton Warriors. I can't provide any armors for them just yet, because I need to dedicate all my mana to their creation.

Once again, Khardin started to extract the Holy Spring Water. This time, however, he was present as well. This is the perfect opportunity for me to kill him.

Returning to my disguise from the previous night, I approach him with a sense of urgency, as if I just found an enemy attack. And I actually did. It's just that I started the attack myself. Get trolled!

Anyway, he immediately mobilised all of his guards to defend the pond. With this, there's no-one around him who can stop me. In the back of my mind, I am worried that Olaf will show up, but he's been AFK for the last day. I tried to look for him within Khardin's knights, but he didn't show up.

I'll just deal with him if he actually does show up. But by then, Khardin will already be my zombie.

I take out my dagger from my inventory, and cut Khardin's throat. As expected, higher levelled people have more life force. Before he died, he actually turned around and tried to claw my helmet off.

"W-Who are you?!" (Khardin)

Despite having damaged vocal cords, Khardin still managed to croak out a final sentence.

"Someone whose about to die doesn't need to know who I am." (Daniel)

"D-Damn you!" (Khardin)

I get the feeling that he was about to rant on about his entire life's work or something, but thankfully there isn't a white space where people I kill get transported to. You know, that place where people only die after saying the necessary amount of exposition. The person who kills them also happens to wear a white hood.

Welp, he's totally dead now. I turn him into a zombie after using another Health Potion and surprisingly, Olaf still hasn't shown up. Therefore, I store away this oasis's Holy Spring Water as well.

[Hidden Quest completed!

Quest info: Kill something 60 levels higher than you.

Quest reward: 20 x Mana Potions (Unique)

Reward provided by: DKstarcraft]

I benefited greatly from tonight. Not only did I manage to secure two oases' worth of water, I also managed to take control of Khardin and gain 20 Unique Mana Potions. With all that, I'm one step closer to completing the quest.

All I need to do now is kill Olaf. Thankfully, the mana potions came at the right time. Each potion replenishes 100 mana, and each Skeleton Warrior takes around 300 mana each. Unfortunately, there is no way for me to overload on mana without exploding, so I can't make a high levelled skeleton.

Although, I could probably start channelling with my Necromancy and do it that way. I'll try it out later.

For now, I return back to my room again and my zombie Khardin returns to his.

Olaf will definitely show up soon. To stop him, I need more Warriors.

A short chapter.

The current arc will probably end in about 2 or 3 chapters.

A shout-out to DKstarcraft for providing an idea for the quest reward!

The quality of this chapter seems a little sub-par, but I'm getting pretty tired. I'll try and improve for the next couple of chapters.

Thanks for reading!
