Lia sat in her place and listened to the class attentively. In the middle of the class, Lia felt like someone has been staring at her for quite a long time. Lia felt the urge to look but she doesn't want to get distracted on her very first day at school. However, the stare gets intensified that Lia planned to look in the direction she felt the chillness coming from.
When the teacher turned to face the board and started writing, Lia quickly turned towards the direction and saw a familiar face. It was Andy. Immediately, Lia's face brightened. Andy smiled back, waving her hands. Lia waved right back at her. When the teacher turned back to face the students, the two girls went back to their respective 'listening-attentively' position. A few moments later, the teacher went back to the board and the girls looked at each other. The pattern kept repeating until their morning break arrived. Some of the kids in the class introduced themselves to Lia and they had little chat. However, Andy sprang out of her seat and approached Lia. Seeing her talking familiar with Lia, the other kids asked Andy, if she had already new Lia.
"Yes," Andy replied.
Once the break was over, the next period started. It's time for their music class. All of the students went to the music room which was on the fourth floor.
Despite it being Lia's first time, she actively participated in singing. Her voice always had a sweet tone which sounded great while singing. The music teacher appreciated Lia for her brave attempt to sing on the very first day. Meanwhile, Andy played the piano. She doesn't really seem to enjoy it. But since it was mandatory, Andy had no choice but to play and get good grades.
The class was on their way returning from the music room. Andy accompanied Lia all the way back making sure to provide all the necessary information about the class, the students, the teachers, and finally all the tricks. Plus, Andy also introduced Lia to her other friends from the class; making sure Lia gets to know everyone.
"We'll meet Jessica and Stephanie during Lunch, Lia" Andy told.
Lia agreed. However, she remembered her mother mentioning about meeting during Lunch.
"Oh, wait... Andy. Lunch, I'll have to meet my mother. She's coming." Lia said.
"What? Is it something serious?" Andy asked.
"Oh, nothing like that. We were late this morning and mother told me she would give me company during lunch today." Lia answered.
"Late on the first day, LIA!!!" Andy smirked.
"Not ON purpose," Lia replied back.
"We'll see" Andy patted Lia's shoulder.
"Alright, Wait... here's the plan. You go see your mom during lunch. Meanwhile, I'll say the girls that I have a surprise for them. And then later after school, we'll meet. Okay?" Andy devised a plan quickly for the reunion.
"Sounds good. I'm in." Lia accepted.
The girls returned back to their classroom for the next period. Soon, the lunch came. The kids all went to eat. Andy and Lia had a small chat before parting ways. Later, when Lia came down, she saw her mother waiting near the playground area. Lia couldn't see any take out food with her mom. She believed that they might be going to the cafeteria for lunch.
"Hey, honey. How is it going? Did you make friends?" Giselle welcomed her with a hug.
"Its good mom, I'm loving it," Lia replied.
"So, how are the kids in your class? Are they all good to you?" Giselle started worrying. Her questions came in like pouring rain. Lia slowly answered it with ease. After their quick chat, Lia asked for food. The little girl was hungry. Giselle had a handbag from which she pulled out a cute lunch box and gave it to Lia.
"Lunch box?" Lia exhaled. When she received, it felt heavy.
Giselle found a good spot near the playground. They both sat on the bench. Lia opened her lunch box and saw what actually gave her a surprise.
The main dish was Mac and Cheese but the lunch box also had a portion of fried veggies, Lia's favorite garlic bread - her mother's specialty. Giselle had gone back home and cooked her daughter a meal to eat during lunch. Lia felt emotional. She smiled happily.
"Wait, let's take a picture and send it to dad," Lia suggested. Giselle agreed. They both took a picture and then Lia went on to eat. Lia's never really picky with her food. Giselle always went far to make sure that Lia liked all of her food.
It is something that Giselle followed strictly while raising Lia. She made sure that the girl had all the nutrients while growing up. Plus, Giselle enjoyed cooking. So, she used to come up with different recipes and try it out with Lia. And that's how Lia's taste bud expanded thus never became selective.
Lia enjoyed her lunch and even praised the dishes. Since it was her first day at school, Lia ate faster than she does at home. Giselle watched her child eating well. It motivated her to even come up with creative recipes.
...
The time was almost up and Lunch was coming to an end. Lia thanked her mother for food and then left to her classroom. Giselle went back home. The next few periods were Math, history, and English. Math seemed tough to handle right after a delicious breakfast. However, with Andy being in the same class as Lia. The two girls often kept glancing and having fun, making sure to stay awake rather than sleeping and getting caught.
The school came to an end and as planned, Andy requested Lia to leave early and wait at the spot where they all had 'Lucky treats' back then. Andy told Jessica and Stephanie to wait for her near the girls' restroom after the school ended. Andy met with the other two and they all headed out. Meanwhile, the other kids were passing by and meeting their parents.
"What's the surprise, Andy?" Stephanie and Jessica kept nagging Andy until they reached the spot.
Andy who was on the verge of getting mad raised her hand and pointed out the direction.
"Look. That's your surprise." Andy said.
The two girls followed her hand and looked out; it was Lia. The girls' expression changed when they saw little Lia standing at the same spot where they had enjoyed 'Lucky Treats'.
"HEY LIA," the girls shouted as they sprinted towards her.
The other kids passing by looked at them as if something serious was happening. But Jessica and Stephanie never really cared about their surrounding.
"Wow, so you really joined here," Jessica said in excitement.
"Of course. I like it here. So, how are you, girls?" Lia replied.
"We've been good. Although, we missed you. I mean..." Stephanie looked at Andy and Jessica.
They all nodded. A few seconds later, the four girls reunited and they all had their first group hug and group high-five.
Soon after the girls indulged into their own world of reunion until Giselle spotted her child. She walked towards them.
"Lia," Giselle called out.
The girls immediately turned around to see Giselle. Lia quickly went to her mom's side and introduced to her friends. Giselle's face lit up as soon as she saw those girls. The girls loved Giselle and had fun talking about their 'Lucky Treats' mission and how Andy mistook Lia for Stephanie. The gang had fun and they all got super excited when Giselle invited them over the weekend. Lia bragged about her mother's cooking; talking about the lunch she had. It made the girls jealous and they all pouted until Giselle promised to cook for them. Soon later, the girls' parents' arrived one by one. Giselle introduced herself to them.
