The Girl Shoots a Commercial for the First Time

Days passed, and the day of VitaQua's commercial shooting had finally arrived.

It was spring, and the weather was good. The sun was out and it was neither too cold nor too hot. It was a perfect day to do some outdoor shooting.

When Yeo Ri arrived at the location, the crew was already running around and setting up all the equipments.

"Wow!" Yeo Ri exclaimed.

"Have you ever been to the Han River before, Yeo Ri-ah?" Her road manager, Byun Joo Hyuk, asked. Watching her sparkling eyes as she took in the scenery, he smiled.

Yeo Ri shook her head, "No, this is my first time. It's so big, like an ocean!"

"Yes," Byun Joo Hyuk's eyes curved into crescents. Yeo Ri's excitement was contagious, and a sense of giddiness was also surfacing in him.

"We'll have plenty of time to sightsee later; come on, let's go over there," Manager Byun pulled Yeo Ri to the side, leading her to the tent where a bunch of people were gathered.

"Oh, Yeo Ri! Over here!"

From under the tent, Ryeon Jae Ha waved her hand towards Yeo Ri.

As they arrived near the crowd, Byun Joo Hyuk took the lead and greeted everyone around them politely. Yeo Ri followed suit, displaying her now-ingrained set etiquette.

"Sorry for being late. Seoul's traffic is the worst," Manager Byun said. That being said, they were actually not late at all; there was still several minutes left before the appointed time. However, compared to the rest who had already gathered there before them, they could be considered as being late.

"No, it's fine. There's still some time before we start," one of the staffs replied. "The project manager is not here yet, so everyone's just relaxing."

"You must be one of the stars for today," said a man wearing bulky glasses. Yeo Ri did not recognise him, but he seemed like an important person. His sleeves were rolled up and he was holding a black marker pen in one hand. With his other hand, he pushed up his glasses, "Come over here and take a look at the script. The lines are simple, so I'm sure you'll be able to memorise them in no time."

Yeo Ri was handed a thin set of papers that were stapled together. It had two pages in total, and after glancing through it, Yeo Ri found that it contained the script for the commercial.

"I'll brief everyone on the storyboard once the last one arrives," he added.

With some time to kill, Yeo Ri pored over the script, going over her lines again and again until she memorised it thoroughly. It truly was a simple enough matter; she only had two lines, after all.

While in the midst of repeating her lines for the nth time, the final member of the cast finally arrived.

"Alright! Everyone, gather 'round," the glasses-wearing man clapped his hands several times to gather the attention of the people around him. "Mr. Do won't be arriving until much later, so we'll be starting first."

"The commercial is only about sixty seconds long, and it'll be divided into three parts. Today's shoot will only consist of two parts, and tomorrow, we'll be going to a pool to shoot the final part," the man briefed. "If you look at the storyboard here, the commercial starts with a few friends having a picnic together. Then, they'll each drink the VitaQua, and we'll be using a large fan for effects. Later, you'll all be jumping into the river. Because this is the tedious part, we'll start with the picnic scene first."

The three cast members, namely Jae Ha, Yeo Ri, and Min Joon, glanced at each other wryly. They were definitely not looking forward to jump into the water. Although it was getting warmer, it was still early spring. The water must still be pretty cold. However, none of them voiced any complaints; work was work, after all.

They were then ushered to the wardrobe station to change their clothes.

Since they would be playing in the water, several sets of the same clothing was prepared for them, just in case they needed to re-take the scene.

Yeo Ri changed into a light blue sundress and had her make up done. Once she was finished, she joined her co-stars at a picnic table where the first part would take place on. A variety of aesthetically pleasing-looking food was arranged over the wooden table, and three bottles of VitaQua was prepared for each of the cast members.

The set coordinator came over and helped them get into position.

"Pretend you're having a good talk. Remember, you're all friends who are having the best times of your lives during a picnic."

"Director-nim! Is this sandwich a prop? Can I eat it?" Min Joon playfully said, raising his hand like a student.

The director—the man with the bulky glasses—chuckled, shaking his head. "I'll hit you if you eat it! The only thing you can consume on that table is the drink, okay?"

Min Joon and the rest of the staff members shared a laugh. "Yes, yes," he nodded his head in understanding. From his demeanour, it was clear he was joking around. Though, he did glance at the assortment of prop food with a hint of disappointment in his gaze.

After the laughter died down, everyone returned to work mode. They made some final adjustments before finally starting.

A staff member extended his hands in front of the cameras, clapping for the slate, "Action!"

And so, the cameras began rolling.
