Chapter 123: Troublesome Trio 2

By the time NaNa reached her room, she was panting. She even forgot to close her door.

It was fun teasing Jun Liu before this because he wouldn't respond to her, giving her the illusion of winning. But now, since Jun Liu started to retaliate, NaNa felt that she couldn't continue teasing him without having her heart beats like the festival drum.

NaNa was frustrated. She felt as if she could never win this.

"NaNa, why are you panting? Oh, la la… Your necklace is nice" The first one to speak would be Yi Fei.

NaNa felt that Yi Fei always noticed the strangest detail first. Even though she tried her best to calm herself down, Yi Fei still saw the small details.

NaNa touched the necklace and went in front of the mirror to inspect it. Indeed, it was a beautiful piece. As Jun Liu said, it complemented her dress well. It made NaNa wondered if Jun Liu knew about her red dress for the party.

"Wow! Your necklace! Darling, you are such a fashionista" John looked up to them after a while because he was trying to do Ying Yue's hair like Belle in Beauty and the Beast.

"John, look. My hubby has a good sense in fashion" Since NaNa was not responding to any of them, Yi Fei assumed that the necklace was a gift from Wu Chen.

"Your hubby? Why would your hubby gift a necklace to NaNa? Wasn't it her parents?" John had a different view of the necklace.

NaNa was so immersed in touching the necklace on her neck, and she ignored the bickering duo in the room. Yi Fei and John argued about who gifted the necklace to NaNa when a man emerged in front of the door.

"Yeah, why would your hubby gifted a necklace to NaNa?" Wu Chen appeared in front of the door with a pair of silver heels on his hand. He handed over the heels to NaNa before approaching Yi Fei who was trying to spray her hair with the hairspray.

It was evident from his face that he heard the rest of the conversation and he was amused. So, Yi Fei called him 'hubby' when she was with her friends, huh?

"Chen Chen, today my concept is Princess Aurora. I am a Sleeping Beauty. Ying Yue is Belle from The Beauty and The Beast. NaNa is Princess Elena of Avalor… Or she could be Red Riding Hood" NaNa brushed off Wu Chen's question like it was nothing.

The truth was, she was very embarrassed because she was caught red-handed while bragging.

"You could be my Prince Phillip…Oh no. Not Phillip, you can be my Prince Luke. John can be the Beast, and Ah Jun could be… well, he could be whatever he wanted to be" Yi Fei shook her head to make her hair looked natural and did not stay clumped together because of the hairspray.

"Why would I become the Beast when I am this handsome? Also, aren't you the Power Rangers earlier? How come you changed to Disney Princess in a blink of eyes?" John was not satisfied with the role assigned by Yi Fei, so both of them continued bickering. John was not well-conversed in Disney Princess, so he was losing to Yi Fei. To save himself, John had to pull his last card.

"I can be NaNa's prince and Ah Jun could be the Beast" John was not willing to be labeled as Beast. He knew that he was too handsome for that.

Upon hearing Jun Liu's name came out from John's mouth, NaNa snapped back to reality. Even though he was not with them, Jun Liu's name was never forgotten.

A maid came to the room to inform them that the party was about to start. All of them went out of the place. Yi Fei walked beside John, but Wu Chen held her hand so she couldn't catch up to John and the rest.

"Chen Chen, we need to hurry up. We could not show up later than NaNa. The birthday girl should be the last one to appear in front of the guests. We should not steal her limelight." Yi Fei tugged Wu Chen's hand so he would hurry up.

Wu Chen did not budge, and by now, there was quite a distance between them and NaNa's entourage. There was a mischievous smile on Wu Chen's face.

"Well, you haven't answered my long overdue question yet." Wu Chen held her hand tighter."Why would your hubby gifted a necklace to NaNa?"

NaNa, John and Ying Yue were nowhere to be seen. Yi Fei panicked. If they were late to show up, all attention would be on them. Yi Fei didn't want to draw any attention for the night. She only wanted to celebrate NaNa's birthday and maybe, drink a little bit with John.

"I'm kidding. I'm only playing with John. Now, let's go" Yi Fei tugged Wu Chen's hand one more time.

Wu Chen took out a black velvet box from his pocket. He handed over the box to Yi Fei. Yi Fei who was naturally a curious person stopped tugging his hand and took the box.

"Oh my…" Yi Fei opened the box, gasped and covered her mouth with her hand. She looked at Wu Chen with questioning eyes. Wu Chen felt accomplished. Recently, he had received an invitation from Jun Liu's sister to the opening of her jewelry shop. When he went over and looked, Yi Fei came to his mind when he saw a specific necklace.

"Why are you giving me a present? Today is not my birthday. My birthday is in February." Yi Fei was not sure why Wu Chen gave her a gift. The necklace was beautiful of course, but she was more concerned about the motive behind the gift. An idea came to her head.

"Chen Chen, did you do something wrong, so you are trying to redeem yourself with this gift? Tell me honestly. What did you do wrong?" Yi Fei was serious.

Wu Chen laughed at Yi Fei's reaction. Shouldn't a girl be happy when they received a beautiful and expensive gift? Why would Yi Fei question him about the necklace? Normal girls will take the gift, be grateful and say 'thank you.' But his Yi Fei was a rare one. She questioned his motive of gifting her little jewelry.

"Ah Jun's sister opened up a jewelry shop. I came to support her, but when I saw this necklace, I thought of you and how this necklace is suitable for you. So, I bought it so that you can wear it tonight. Let me help you with it." Wu Chen unfastened the silver necklace on Yi Fei's neck, and he put on the necklace he bought for Yi Fei.

While he had nothing against silver jewelry, Wu Chen strongly felt that his woman should wear the best in everything. He made a mental reminder to purchase a few other pieces of jewellery for Yi Fei next time.

The necklace that Wu Chen gave to Yi Fei was a round star key pendant in platinum and rubies. He remembered that Yi Fei told him about an anime with a magical girl and key necklace.

Yi Fei turned to face Wu Chen with giddy expression. Wu Chen knew the expression too well. When Yi Fei had that expression on her face, it means that she was in the mood of playing.

"Chen Chen, do I look like Cardcaptor Sakura? Because this key looks like the key to capture your heart" Yi Fei clicked her tongue and raised her brows in a flirting manner.

Wu Chen laughed along with Yi Fei's antic and held her shoulder with both his hands.

"Aren't you supposed to thank me?" Wu Chen expected a kiss as a thank you, so he leaned over to Yi Fei.

Yi Fei was too busy playing with her new key necklace that she did not catch the meaning behind Wu Chen's action of asking a 'thank you' from Yi Fei.

Yi Fei nodded her head, acknowledging that she should thank Wu Chen properly.

"Thank you, Chen Chen. I am going to reward you for this." Yi Fei smiled brightly.

"That's it?" Wu Chen looked at Yi Fei's lips as a hint. Yi Fei's expression changed. She seemed to realize something. Wu Chen praised Yi Fei in his heart. His girlfriend is so smart.

"Oh key that burn with the power of dreams, reveal your true nature before me. Release!" Yi Fei used the key from her necklace to hit Wu Chen's hand. She was playful.

Wu Chen smiled helplessly. So, Yi Fei didn't get what he wanted after all, but there were a lot of time for him to get his 'thank you' later. Now, they needed to get going before his mother sent a search party for them.

When Yi Fei and Wu Chen arrived at the backyard, the event was about to start. Yi Fei told Wu Chen that she didn't want to draw too much attention to herself because she was shy. Wu Chen didn't want to believe her when she said that she was shy because there's nothing shy about Yi Fei, the social butterfly.

But Wu Chen didn't want to make her sad so he thought of going to their table quietly by walking in the dark so that the other guests will not notice them. Wu Chen held Yi Fei's hand and guided her towards the seating area with the flowing curtains where NaNa went to earlier.

Yi Fei stopped walking. "Prince Luke Skywalker, please don't go to the dark side."

Wu Chen tightened his hold on Yi Fei's hand. "Don't be naughty" His other hand pinched her cheek but Yi Fei swatted his hand quickly because he was going to ruin her makeup since today she put on an extra foundation on her face.

Wu Chen pulled Yi Fei to walk at his side. Both of them were holding and swinging their intertwined fingers like kids. The sight was truly enviable, especially for those single people.

The birthday celebration party has started, but a certain someone was still sitting in the dark at the seating area.

He was thinking of his next move.
