For context, I’ve personally read up to chapter 776, so I’ve experienced all of the story to that point (I encourage you to read this full review) A lot of the negative reviews for this book focus on the first third of the story, where the protagonist is helping someone else build a harem. I understand why that section can turn some readers away at first. However, I strongly encourage people not to judge the entire book based on the first third or so. What many reviewers miss is that this portion of the story is actually laying the groundwork for something much larger, world building, and building the character of Jayden and the reasoning for him much later on in the story. As the story progresses, the narrative shifts significantly, and the protagonist eventually builds something of his own. When that transition happens, the story opens up into something far deeper and more complex than it initially appears. The author intentionally keeps the reader slightly confused about what is really going on. At times it feels like pieces of the puzzle don’t fully fit together, but that’s part of the design. As more of the story is revealed, those earlier moments start to click into place. When everything finally begins to make sense, it’s incredibly satisfying to look back and realize how many subtle details were planted earlier in the book. Another reason the story becomes so engaging is the protagonist himself. His character development and the challenges he goes through make the story extremely hard to put down. I won’t say more then that except, he truly goes through so much pain. Watching how he grows and how his decisions shape the world around him and how he tries to stay sane mentally, keeps you constantly invested in what happens next. Once you move past the first third of the book, the harem aspect of the story also improves dramatically (his own harem). The characters are not shallow or one-dimensional. Each member has their own personality, story, motivations, and depth, which makes their relationships with the protagonist feel meaningful rather than forced. They also don’t go into backgrounds or into women who aren’t part of the harem (which is great because why would I want to read that) I believe you should not rate a story unless you have read the entire thing. The depth of the plot, the long-term setup, and the payoff of earlier events only become more impressive the further you read. If you can push past the first third/half and do not take the story/writing at face value (very complex story depth) and realize it all has a reasoning, you’ll find a story that is thoughtfully constructed, emotionally engaging, and incredibly rewarding once the full picture starts to emerge. By the time everything begins to make sense, you’ll likely look back at the earlier parts of the book with a completely different perspective. Especially in the bigger picture and plot which is layered far far deeper and nearly impossible to figure out until it is revealed. You will think you know what is actually going on but, you really don’t!
