if you use real world movies, in a timeline within a decade of their creation, and call them classics or retro you open it up. because when writing fiction and using real world things unless stated otherwise your readers will assume the history of those things to be the same as in the real world. if you want to make those movies in your story to have been created in the 1940s or 1950s I won't complain, it falls within artistic license, but if you do not want your readers to assume that the movies were created at the same time as the real world counterparts you have to state it.
