Thank you so much for the feedback. You are right, the MC doesn't have a clear goal in his life. Or, he does things just because he wants to or he feels he should. His life is more likely being pushed by something bigger. That is what I want to write about. Hopefully I can write it better. For the mistake of switching to present tense, my bad. I will definitely pay more attention going forward. The MC is not a "good" guy. He is a person who keeps some true values at the bottom of his heart. But when facing outside world, he is also selfish, cunning, and sometimes does bad things to achieve his goal. He will do more bad things in the future. As for his story with Elaine, yes, it is not following traditional standard and causing harm to her husband. This probably will make some people lose interest about the story.
