Oh, this one is actually an intentional error. In fact, it's present in the English dubbing of Date a Live.

I'm a little late, but yes, Kyo did know something like this would happen. He just expected it to happen a lot later, and not literally one day after Kurumi transferred to the school. Or in other words, he expected Episode 8 to happen. Which it didn't.
