I think one of the main reasons the USA is such a superpower today is because the U.S. dollar is the world’s reserve currency, along with its military strength and other factors. But honestly, I don’t think an alliance between the U.S. and Russia would ever work because the U.S. wouldn’t want the Russian ruble to become the world’s reserve currency or for Russia to become a superpower, since the U.S. would likely want to become that themselves. Additionally, after World War II, I imagine the author might try to convince Jewish inventors to move to Russia to help develop military technology, especially since Russia is favorable toward Jews in the book. Russia would probably also try to isolate the U.S., especially given America’s geographic distance from Europe and the Middle Eastern oil reserves, which are crucial to global power. In this alternative, russia could have allied with and protected nations in the Arabian Peninsula, like the Saudi monarchy, much like the U.S. did in our timeline. After Britain’s weakening, Russia might have used the opportunity to control oil production in the Middle East, giving them leverage over the U.S., which at the time was very dependent on foreign oil. It’s just my opinion, but I believe that after World War II, Russia could have become a superpower with its vast resources. If they had developed a strong navy, they could have competed globally, especially since most European countries, like Britain, were severely weakened and destroyed. At that time, America wasn’t very united either, with widespread discrimination, which Russia could have exploited to divide the U.S. and position itself as the sole superpower. But, I don’t know—it’s just my perspective. Maybe I’m being unrealistic, but I think it could have worked.
