An interesting and unique world. I really enjoy the feeling of mystery and discovery. The underlying horror is cleverly cut every so often with near perfect comedic timing to maintain a tense atmosphere without being overwhelming. The side characters are interesting and developed, at first. As the cast grows some fall to the wayside but they remain relevant when brought back into the limelight. Sadly the mc is the weakest element in the story. He’s just very robotic with nonsensical intuition given as a weak excuse for him to always do the right thing. The mc is also this weird combination of overly cautious and over powered.
You know that’s probably my one complaint about this story. I’m not really clear on how much time has passed. It’s not like super inconsistent or anything but just vague enough to be annoying when mentioned.
Low key bash.
Annie not Alice
Classic conservation of competence. The mc is the only one who isn’t an idiot. He’s not particularly smart it’s just everyone else is dumb. It makes the story boring.
Ahhhh the old it gets better later defense. If I had a nickel for every time I heard that and paid a dollar every time it were true I’d still be making money. The fact of the matter is if it starts off poorly then it’s got a poor foundation and it’s just not worth my time.
A very hollow contradictory mc. One minute he’s a happy doting father and then he’s a purely logical sociopath. He just feels bipolar and fake.
Warning!!! Missing chapters. Around chapter 40 there are missing chapters. The titles seem to indicate that they’re all there but there is a chapter that has the mc in a completely different place without any explanation and then he’s not there in the next. It’s a shame because what I read I liked.
It starts out that way in the first ~50 chapters but the it degenerates fast. Feels like the author gave up.
Generic garbage. The overly pure mc becomes a validated murder hobo cause everyone is an irredeemable monster. It would be funny if the author wasn’t trying to be serious.
