Not really sure why we needed an explanation on basketball but ok.
So one thing that's very weird about the start of this novel is how little we know of the MC. We don't know his age, why he ended up as a gangster, what happened to his family, his goals, nothing. We only got his name and a description of how he looks. It makes the MC seem very uninteresting and one-dimensional and we can't connect with the character. Right now the MC doesn't feel like a MC he feels like a random NPC.
This chapter is proof of why authors that write reincarnation or transmigration stories usually have the MC keep that fact to the themselves. It takes an extremely skilled writer to pull off a scene of the MC actually telling that to someone and having the other person have an appropriate reaction and unfortunately it seems this author is not one of those. Logan accepted this was too quickly, realistically a person would need at least an hour to process what they heard and that's me being generous. But it doesn't even stop there but Logan then proceeds to want to help the MC in the very same chapter, while barley having time to grieve the loss of friend he just jumps to wanting to help this guy. I also don't even believe he should have even figured out that the MC was not his friend because the explanation of the MC Arthur being off because of the accident actually makes way more sense for him to think than 'my friend is acting weird, he must not be my real friend'. So yeah it just ruins the immersion I had for this novel.
I f*cking called it.
I personally don't think tax evasion is morally ambiguous. The IRS are basically just a bunch of greedy scammers anyway so fuck them, I'd do the same thing.
I really do like this novel and would have originally given it an 8.5/10 but the ending was way too rushed. I feel like the author just wanted to hurry and finish this to work on their new novel. It's not that I'm experiencing a feeling of loss because some great has come to an end, I just feel blind sighted and annoyed. Before this, the only problem I had with this novel was the MC getting OP too quickly and slight pacing issues but this rushed ending had lowered my rating to a 7-7.5/10.
I'm dropping this for a few reasons. 1. I don't like how fast he became so overpowered. It really takes away from the intensity of anything since he's already as strong or stronger than All Might before the canon even starts. So why would I need to continue reading when I know every fight is gonna end with him winning? That's boring unless it's a gag character like Saitama from One Punch Man. 2. He is so goddamn rude and arrogant to the other students. Bro they are literal children why tf are he being such a d*ckhead for no reason. And don't give me no bullsh*t like it's because of trauma. 3. The characters around Kai cater to him and don't call out when he's being a dick (except Momo sometime) and it's stupid. Most of the people around him are grown adults but believe this dude can do no wrong.
Actually Alex did.
I'm side-eyeing this paragraph bro like what in the racist.
