I do like myself a good system novel, and have written a couple myself, and Shen has done pretty well with this story. it's always been hard for me to follow along with Chinese or Korean names in novels, and I struggle to get attached to the characters when this happens, but this is in no way the author's fault, so I won't rate negatively for that. The world building, characters and plot are all pretty interesting, and I enjoyed reading up to the point that I did. There are a couple of cliche things here and there, but they wouldn't be cliche if they didn't work! There are just some grammatical errors, which are mostly letters missing at the end of pluralised words, no capitalisation at the beginning of a new sentence, or formatting issues like excessive paragraph spacing. There are some newbie errors like redundancy as well, which is usually seen as dialogue tags or elsewhere. Overall, though, I enjoyed reading Nexus, so make sure to give it a read!
This will be my third ever shameful review, as this is also the third novel I've started writing on Webnovel. Reborn with a Necromancer System, or RNS, is the story of a man who goes through many trials, and I'm really proud of the amount of work that has gone into this novel, the world, and everything about it. You'll see love, loss, revenge, grief, joy, sadness, and plenty of anger. I hope everyone enjoys reading just as much as I've loved writing it.
All in all, this novel is a nice read. You can tell that the author is just getting his bearings in the professional writing world, as there are some grammar and spelling issues. But mostly, it's just forgetting to pluralise words and sometimes a word will be missing the last letter, but you can still make sense of what they're trying to say. It's a typical reincarnation story featuring Arthur Grimwood, a boy of humble origins who got a second chance at life after leading a pretty miserable existence before his death. I've read several system novels and written one myself, so I understand them quite well, and Su5h1 has made a system that holds both more and less information than the usual one, including things that are possible to achieve, yet not attained. There are just a couple of gaps in realism which cause you to make a double-take. There were only eight chapters when writing this review, but I think you should give it a chance and keep an eye on the author and their future works as well, because they may achieve great things!
Where on earth did a 3-year-old find a sword he could use? Maybe mention him using sticks around the same length of a sword for his size to practice with?
As someone who worked in childcare for four years, I'll just say that if only a year had passed, he would have been two years old before this chapter, and he could have been walking around and speaking, so you might want to change something.
Shameless Review from the author themselves. I know, I know. Cliche. Fractured Horizon (FH) is my second serialised novel after My Undeath. I'm extremely proud of this novel and where it's leading to, so I hope you'll give it a chance. Feel free to ask me any questions you have here, or in the chapters themselves, and I'll answer all of them. FH is set in a futuristic world, but does not contain HARD sci-fi. It's more of a fantasy story in a futuristic setting. The first twenty-six chapters are a slow burn to the really good stuff. You'll meet, Ryne, the main character, see a lot of what the setting has to offer, the characters surrounding the MC, and get a feeling for what he has to fight for, and more importantly, what he has to lose. Be prepared for an epic story about adventure, love, loss, friendship, survival, and growth.
Sugar, spice, and everything nice. Spice and Wolf? How about Wolf and Spice? 🤭
