The inclusion of other characters less addressed such as in the Hunter Exam (just make sure to not overdo it and lose the track of what you're doing for the story)
I will vote this, but I will make an argument for the first option. While I don't want you to pretty much stalk Gon and Killua (because for example why would he go to Greed Island, besides learning from Bisky ig) because he does need his own journey especially since you roped in other characters into his journey from the Exam, his primary knowledge of future events comes from his knowledge of HxH outside of stuff he learns in the world itself and it provides a template for how he can prepare himself going forward
I say let him die, I'm sure he will be strong by the Ant Arc but Netero is Netero and I doubt he'll be there yet. That said, if there is something you want to do for closure to Meruem and Komugi's las moments, this option is best
+1 would be a good one for Nicholas honestly of the three since I doubt in a combat nen setting he'd be fully directly engaged
I vote this with the caveat that you really only focus on the people most prevalent to his journey outside of the core canon cast. It's okay to give others screentime and I've enjoyed it with the Exam, but there's no point in expanding on people we'll hardly see in your story outside of a few mentions, does that make sense?
I'll admit I'm not as well versed in HxH since it's been a while but 2 is most reasonable since you can't expect him to walk the path that others have *focused* on and pull some Mary Sue crap to make significant contributions going forward, I'm okay if you want him to explore his options, nothing wrong with that but ultimately he should really do two or one to focus on those fields
+1 though I recommend a possible poll to skip the small minor stuff to avoid just droning on. Many readers are likely fans who read/watched HxH already so we will already have some idea of what is the more important ones to focus on and what can be skipped (not many instances but an example would be the first 200 floors of Heaven's Arena minus Killua's first explicit exposure to Nen via Zushi)
+1 with caveats, I'll be the first to admit that I'm not really the biggest fan of the awkward anime-exaggerated responses to being in the presence of woman, since you can feel awkward around women internally but not act like a spaz
