He would have been pressured to take one and staying as a genin with such strength, not to mention when he came from a prominent family, is bound to raise some eyebrows. To others, he might've looked like someone shirking his duties. He wouldn't be looked at favorably if he refused to get promoted unless he got some achievements that let them overlook his eccentricity of not wanting to be promoted. It could be also that he doesn't care much about his reputation.

I hate Ren. The author is inconsistent on how it works and how it is trained. In the beginning of the Greed Island Arc, neither Gon nor Killua can hold Ren for 2 consecutive minutes. Then they train for two months, and they can hold it for 30 mins. And after Kite gets Chimera Ant'd, Biscuit returns and trains them for a month and then they can perform Ren for 3 hours. The author does not know how Ren works. In the Anime and Manga they literally skip 80% of the explanation for how to use it just so people can't point out the inconsistencies. Every single other technique is explained in detail except for Ren! I had to make up the theory that matched the 20% the author gave, and I am happy with what I came up with because it matches just about everything. - Lazy_Fox1111mthCommenté

Not surprising, as Rayleigh had been American and would start in the United States when he eventually went to the MCU. There were Players from Mexico, South America, Japan, Africa, Asian, and Europe too. But there were still more Players from the United States than from any one of those other countries.
