i think either you misunderstood the last few chapters wrong or I displayed it poorly. I tried to make it clear over the previous few chapters that Hope has a crush on both guys already and just didn't have the heart to choose.

for the manga there is a full background story which I'm not that familiar with currently. the gist of it regarding this question however is that he was rescued from an airplane crash and his dead parents were japanese I think

his first big power up is around s1 finale basically
