Histuga is also aware of Yamamoto’s power, he wasn’t surprised when his own Bankai started to melt. We don’t know if he was aware of Unohana’s past. We do know that Kenpachi was only that strong after training. I’m not saying Hisugate was right but he words still held a weight to them with that statement. Even if he believed they were all Gin’s level, it’s still powerful no matter what.

He’s wasn’t fully unaware, he knew a majority of the power most captains had, he had a rough estimate. Even if he didn’t know how powef they really were he still knew them at 50 maybe 75% power and still said the Vasto Lorde would win

He doesn’t work as a main character at all, he’s a reactionary character. He does what he wants, when he wants. The only reason he fough Gojo, and co, is simply bc they thought they could contain, control and kill him. He’s not the type to go out of his way to rule, to kill, to eat, or anything. Theirs no really good way to right Sukuna as a MC, his mentality isn’t bad. The hedonism, and selfishness, isn’t a bad way to write a character, they just need more to them than being reactionary
