I still can't stand the idea of the mc going to the watch with his skill and newfound ability to resist the sun. He can't literally be a mercenary or a knight. Why take the black, when he can be a lord or a knight under a lord and make his own vampire army? If he doesn't want to rule the kingdom, then be a noble. If he doesn't wanna be a noble, be a mercenary, or just go to bravos, buy/free slave at slavers bay, then make them into vamps
