actually I don't mind that part, what I hated about Vahn's character is that despite the long years of his experience he still doubts his self in regards of how he handles his harem. Like man up and just look straight ahead with confidence, and with no regrets, that's all that I ever wanted in Vahn's character development.

I think you are just kinda new to reading novels? Different perspective are necessary to show how vibrant or dark the world of the story is, it shows the emotions of the characters, doesn't matter if they are the main one or just the peanut gallery as that is what makes writing fun as well.
