I think ur example is more naive than innocent, but i think we hav different definitions of innocent
Ryuu was definitely my favorite character out of the main three. He's strong and oddly innocent. The fact that he loves you enough to hurt you is so bittersweet. Umm just for reference, Past tense of “hang” is “hung”, so hanged->hung
He only needed to get rid of all potential threats. The main ones being tribes that knew magic or ones that had any sort of secret inheritance. He hanged out with his village's chief as the most likely to inherit so he knew very well the danger that inheritances could pose. But before he could identify those threats he would need some allies, and the famine created a perfect pretext for a temporary alliance. You also gotta remember, sure the instuctors are stong, but theyre not omnipotent and each have their own occupation that might not be reliant on pure strength to succeed, so it wouldnt be unusual for regular soldiers to be stronger than them physically
