The system can probably choose from a list of directions to take its host to higher power. I'd assume the creator who referred to the MC as another "subject" slowly whittles down the list of potential systems with each failure. Believe it or not, using random chance to sort through a list is a valid approach to some searching/sorting methods. In this case where the system is used continuously on countless other subjects, the random selection of a direction to power can eventually land on the correct system faster than a sequential elimination process.

Genuinely don't know how this story has such a high rating. There is no hook to keep you reading, and everything feels forced. This story seems more like a self insert where the author lives out his fantasy rather than a real isekai.
