But what you said doesn't negate the fact that the MC still feels like a side character and I was reading the novel for the MC not the rest of the characters. If you like multiple POVs multiple characters getting alot of time on the scene then you'll enjoy this novel. And if you dislike multiple POVs and prefer stories that maintain the POV of the MC and centers things around them, then you'll have a more difficult time with this novel.

This chapter and the fortune telling trope takes away from how much better the story could've been. But thanks for the chapter

You misread because it's divided into stages, and each of the terms the author wrote after the semicolon is one of the stages. The five elements are the first stage. Space and time are the second stage. Life and death is the third stage, and so on and so forth. The text is not saying that those things are the five elements, but that like the five elements those things are a stage of training his technique
