Author really should break this paragraph into multiple sentences. While technically there's nothing wrong with it, as it is being divided with the use of comma, but it gets really tiring for the reader. By dividing it into multiple sentences, the author tells the reader that one thing has been said and that the reader can now take time to process the meaning of what has been told, before moving onto the next sentence.
He finds his friend laying in a pool, of blood with an arrow sticking from his back. "Must've been the wind" he thinks, and proceeds to clear out the corpse

I actually think that this was a great chapter. Super happy to see that Hina is not actually a pushover, but just decides to let others lead when it comes to bedstuff and will vocalize her refusal to things she doesn't want to do.
Well yes, there aren't any animals with cross shaped pupils, but they would fit right in with all the other weirdly shaped pupils

It'll take quite awhile to teach all of the kanji... I don't believe there's anyone who knows them all, like 80% at best for someone who's been actively studying them for like 70 years
so why are the soldiers after them again? is there a law against using magic?
white pupils sound cool, but having them would mean you're blind as the light escapes from your eyes instead of getting properly reflected into your optic nerve
