...With what he does, he should have long ago experienced the despair of being crushed, just like other people or forces who get crushed in this novel at a point when MC is weaker than even them."
Writing review as of chapter 223. Overall enjoying it! I expected this novel to be more cliche due to the beginning with dojos, gangs etc, but it develops in a quite different way and direction, with small unique developments and interesting plot twists (reminds me of Constellation Door). It is actually a quite bloody unlawful novel with climatic fights and an MC whose wish is to control his own destiny, so he more or less goes against the whole world. He starts naively and tries to convince himself he is a good guy doing good things with his way of solving problems that is pretty much killing. But, there's character development and this, to some extent, is a deliberate part of the plot for his growth, he has to answer himself what he does it for etc. What's interesting there is that side characters also show some out of the box behavior (e.g. a strong dude learned from his first encounter with MC, and in the next confrontation, wanting revenge and believing that MC is still weaker than him, he didn't rush like a brainless guy but took MC very seriously unlike others, trying to elevate his power in his mind and made his move only when he thought MC used his trump card and exhausted most of his power). There's a good transition cycle in the plot, it runs stable at a somewhat peaceful pace and suddenly accelerates, pumping the heart rate, author doesn't fail to deliver new plot twist and reason for MC to be bada.ss. So far it only gets better. The main thing I don't like is that author's writing is a bit simplified and it's reflected in the lack of realistic countermeasures against MC in the plot, it's too smooth sailing for the MC, even if the author tries to explain why he wasn't touched. If it was written more realistically, the plot would be much more darker and dramatic as power rules in this novel can be abused and is painted in the way of "whoever has most power can do anything to the weak". Yet those in the dark who hold so much power, make half-assed effort and let MC develop or flip their chessboard. With what he does, he should have long ago experienced the despair of being crushed, just like other people or forces who get crushed in this novel at a point when MC is weaker than even them.

...in sewers or mountains like a stray cat."
Apparently it gets worse later on with forced harem or something
It's a mix of Bombarding Cultivators With Artillery & Comprehension Dao. The worlds and background seem more interesting and relevant, the omniscient brain is not so omniscient etc. It's better in some areas.
The start of the novel (modern world martial artists) is rather cliche but very fast-paced with MC that grows on steroids soloing any adversity. Despite that it lacks depth, due to lots of action you feel the urge to continue reading and see how it develops. The second arc (Cangwu realm - xianxia world cultivators) is a bit better and finally resembles a proper cultivation novel, with sects that battle each other. It's less cliche, but still quite monotonous in the way the characters behave and think, being the background for MC, as if the novel was written by a high-schooler. The third arc (North Sea Star) is cliche brainless fighting. In the novel, there are many moments with people being shocked about MC and his feats, since he's a growing all-arounder. The world background is interesting tho, but in my opinion the novel lacks more sophiscitated plot and characters for much better execution.
You got my interest piqued. Where to find "The Strongest Sword God in a Magic World"? I tried finding it on CN sites, including chinese qidian, but only found some removed book.
The plot is not my cup of tea, but the novel's rather decent. If you enjoy reading about gods and mythology, give it a try. Review as of chapter 30.
Oh rip, to think that I have read the novel not so long ago and just now wanted to go back to check something. Well, I'll read author's note as to why he dropped the novel. If you want the access try searching with original title 这个巫师只想带学生 , more than one site should pop up.
