109 Something Strange

The next morning, I woke to another layer of freshly fallen snow covering the land. For a moment, I was afraid that the town had been snowed in overnight, but luckily, I could still get to school. We only had this week and next week until Christmas break, and the full moon was coming, too, and I couldn't afford to miss any more school if I could help it.

And somehow through it all, we were going to celebrate Christmas... and I hadn't bought one gift yet.

When I was ready for school, I headed downstairs and Dad had already left for work, as usual. I looked out and my heart jumped when I saw Dakota's car already setting in the driveway. This time, he was wearing a heavy leather coat and there were snow chains on his truck. I slipped into my heavy winter coat, grabbed my backpack, and hurried out the door, more in a hurry to see Dakota than anything. 

"Good morning, gorgeous." He gave me a kiss chaste on the kiss and then opened the passenger side door for me.
