4 Chapter 4

Waking up in the morning, Xu Liu yawned and stood up and saw that he was now level 32. He also found a massive pile of spirit stones laying in his room. While appreciating the work of his clones he took the spirit stones into his inventory and converted 90% to system points.

Noticing how he had just enough for he Ultimate Disguise Skill, he couldn't help but crack smile while mentally telling the system to purchase it.

He felt the new knowledge in his brain, and after a few seconds of assimilation, he immediately tried it out, regressing is displayed cultivation to 3rd stage of Qi refinement and changing his appearance to a middle aged man with sharp eyebrows and a chiseled face. Admiring this appearance for a bit, he changed it again, this time to the girl he would've bumped into yesterday if he hadn't stepped away. He tested a few other things before coming to a conclusion.

'I can change in to anything as long as my Qi can support it, so no nonliving objects or something like a giant as tall as a city. Well I could possibly do a giant, but it would require a massive amount of Qi. Something like a little bug is more practical for my clones to spy on. Plus it's Qi efficient so I could make many of these.'

Thinking this, he changed himself into a bird, but he scaled it down by about 100 to become a tiny microscopic bird. Using shadow clone jutsu, he made thousands of these birds and told them to latch onto important looking people, so when they go into formations and such, they birds can just go in with them. Now, any important information won't escape his ears. Plus he'd have more to do in his down time.

Xu Liu decided today that he was going to check out the auction house. From what his clones heard, today they had their annual large auction celebration for the birthday of their founder.

What he was interested was not in those 'rare' items or pills, as things like this wouldn't be useful for someone at his level. No what he was looking out for were those inconspicuous items that no one knows the use of.

From the many cultivation novels he'd read, he knew that the main character would buy an item like this and it would always turn out to be some super rare treasure. He planned to fully take advantage of that.

Changing his appearance to a typical, young handsome cultivator and changing his cultivation level to 5th level of the Qi refinement realm, he looked to be like a young genius from some random clan. Since there are hundreds of cultivation clans and families in this city alone, no one would even remember the names of the lesser clans, much less the individuals in the younger generation. He would probably just be seen as a youngster from a small or hidden clan. Anyways, he can change his appearance/cultivation at will so no one can really find him if he chooses not to be found.

Walking down the street, this time he gets some passing glances from mortals and loose cultivators. They don't stay on him too long, as no one really wants to offend some young master for no reason. Also, although he was handsome in appearance, that was just it. They were people more handsome than him in the city so their attention just moved away from him after a glance.

After making it near the auction house, he could see crowds of people gathering and forming a line from the entrance. Thankfully, he was early so he could probably get in in a few minutes.

As he was standing in line, he listened to the passing conversation of different people.

"Hey isn't that the young master of the Ma Clan Ma Ying?"

"Yeah, I heard the Ma Clan is one of the top 10 richest clans in the city. Sigh, what a great life he must be living..."

"Who's that beauty next to him though? She has such a cold aura, it makes me shiver looking at her"

"Oh, i thinks she's the Young Miss of the Xun Clan Xun Bai. I heard she's an unparalleled cultivation genius, reaching the peak Qi Refinement realm at the age of 18!"

"What a beauty, if only she didn't keep that cold expression all the time-"

"Shhh don't say that, if you offend them who knows which hole you'll end up dead in!"

Watching these potential problems walk in his direction, Xu Liu had a deadpan expression. He decided to walk away and go to the back of the line. It was just a few more minutes he had to wait. Better than having to deal with those bundles of problems.

As he was moving, he noticed the girl with the cold expression pick up her pace and follow him with the guy not far behind. He made a mental facepalm, but didn't change his pace. He let the girl catch up because she seemed fixed on him for some reason, and he didn't want to miss the auction so he stayed to listen to what she had to say.

"See, this is my lover right here"

She tried to grab his arm but each time she did he always dodged without expression. Seeing that it didn't work, she used her movement technique continuing to fail at grabbing his arm.

Ma Ying, being the low IQ young master he is, somehow thought this was a form couple banter and stared at Xu Liu with a gaze full of hostility.

"Hmph, Junior Sister what's so special about him. Look at those cheap robes. He probably some trash from a small family. He's not qualified for someone like you."

"So what if he is, I love him and nothing can change that."

At this point she gave up trying to catch him and stood there talking back to her annoying senior brother.

Watching them argue Xu Liu considered just killing them both on the spot, but decided against it as there were too many witnesses and it would only bring him trouble. He didn't want to be exterminating clans for now, as he had just got used to killing and was not a mass murderer.

He mentally commanded his shadow clones to come dressed in black robes covering their faces. A few seconds later, 20 men showing foundation building level cultivation came rushing over, clearly identifying themselves as thieves before knocking both Ma Ying and Xun Bai out, kidnapping and taking them away.

Xu Liu mentally commanded them to steal all their valuables before stripping the young master and leaving him on the street somewhere. As for Xun Bai, she needed some punishment for dragging him into her troubles so he told them to take her to the demonic cultivator's basement.

Watching the growing commotion around him, he thought nothing of it and continued to wait in line. A few minutes later he was seated inside the auction waiting for it to start.
