Vows Of Marriage

"Yes sir. I will send the design to you in a minute" I said as I ended the call and start opening all the files again. What did I save the file as? I search through his name and find five files saved as final.

I sigh and start opening them one by one to confirm which I drafted last. Why can't I just save them all by different names. My phone rings and I pick it up without looking at the caller ID.

"Hello" I said answering the call

"Bets, it's almost 11 in the night. When will you be home?" Mummy's worried voice came and I sighed. I totally forgot to inform her

"I will be back in an hour. I am sorry I didn't call you" I said and continued looking through my files.

"Its okay. Your papa was waiting to talk to you about something" she said

"You both just go to sleep. I will talk to papa tomorrow before coming to the firm" I said and mummy disconnected the call after telling me to eat my dinner. I smile and continue going through the files. Okay now I am confused between just these two files. These two files are very confusing there is just a slight change in both of them and I don't really remember which one he selected. But I can do it if I just spend a little bit more time on this.

I walk towards my parents room knowing very well what Papa wanted to talk to me about last night. It has been a long time since the topic of marriage is discussed. I am 27 already and it is kind of a taboo to be unmarried till this age for both boys and girls, more so for girls but still.

I reach his room and take a deep breath. I convince myself to agree to whatever he says because last time he almost didn't talk to me for months when that guy rejected me. I open the door and see Papa sitting on his bed reading one of the books from his collection.

He always has been a person who loves to collect books and reads them. I grew up listening to very beautiful stories he read me daily after coming from his office while I ate my dinner and he always recited sweet poems to my mother that he writes in his time. He looks up and sees me and I smile at him. He smiles back and gestures for me to enter.

"Beta(son but in this case daughter), come and sit" he said patting the empty space beside him on the bed. I settled in beside him and looked at the book he was reading. I smile seeing he was reading one of the books I gifted him.

"You might have already guessed why I have called you here. I have found a match for your marriage" he said and took a pause and looked at me as if to get my reaction but I was just sitting still with a straight face.

"He is Pankaj's son, Arjun. You know him." He said and took a pause to wait for me again if I had something to speak. When I didn't speak he continued

"You both can meet and talk to each other first before saying anything if you are okay" he said and looked at me curiously

"I will talk to him first, Papa" I said and he smiled and patted my head. I got out of his room after talking about some stuff with him and started heading towards my room. I played with my fingers as I thought about him and his family.

Pankaj uncle is Papa's best friend. I have known him since my childhood and same goes for Arjun as well. He is I guess two years older than me. I have not talked to him a lot as he was never around that much. We have met just once or twice in parties. I guess I met him last about two years ago at a party.

I was opening the door to my room when I heard my mom calling me. She hugged me immediately as soon as I turned around. I smile and hug her back. I knew it would make mummy and papa happy if I agreed to meet him.

"I am so happy you are gonna get married now" she said grinning

"I just said yes to meeting him not to the marriage" I said shaking my head towards the last part but smiling a little at her

"You should he is a nice guy" she said still grinning

"First let me meet him then we will discuss if he is a nice guy or not" I said playfully and got inside my room leaving a grinning mummy outside.

I got back from my office and ate my dinner. Arjun's name has been running in my mind the whole day. After the dinner I thought of stalking Arjun. Maybe it will help my overthinking a little. I laid down on my bed and opened my Instagram and searched for him.

I finally found his id but there a not a lot of pictures just three. The recent picture was of him with his friends. He is always been a handsome guy, the only changes in him were his beard and hair. He did not had a beard when I saw him last time. He had always had nice features and good physique. His personality and nature are also good just like the rest of his family. I relax down a bit after seeing his pictures and besides I am close with his family. I just hope everything goes nicely. And I don't really think he would talk inappropriately to me like the last one.
