A tremendous cruise ship existed in the middle of the Atlantic ocean.
Above the ships, hovering in the air, were several armored black helicopters. The helicopters gradually plunge into the ship's helipad in the middle of the ship.
The doors opened and figures in black cloaks strode down with bulky briefcases in their grasp.
Looking closely, the black-cloaked figures were more than a hundred as they all made their way through the ship's stairs before gradually disappearing.
After some time, another helicopter also landed, and with a sizzling noise, the doors snapped open.
"Mun, stick with me," a tall figure who also had the black cloak whispered to another one who seemed to be a female.
The duo also paced briskly down the same stairs as the others did.
"Hon, where is this place?" The petite figure asked as her gaze darted around the ships.
"This is the church of villains." The manly figure answered as they reached another door.
The manly figure yanked the door open, and they step into a room with several people in white uniforms and chef caps.
The men and women didn't pay attention to them as they fixed their gazes on the meals they were cooking.
Clang, clang, echoed as the aroma of grilled chicken wings evaded the duo's nostrils as they paced along the long kitchen.
The petite figure's stomach emitted a soft growl.
"You wanna grab a bite?" Ruby, the manly figure, asked as he glanced down at Muna.
"I'm OK. I don't eat meat," she said in a low voice.
"Oh, you don't eat meat? Are all V like that? "
Ruby used the V word because he didn't want to attract any attention from the chefs.
Confusion crossed Muna's face when she heard the V word, but after a slight thought, she realized what he was talking about.
"Not all, though. I just don't like it. "
"I see." Ruby arrived at a door that seemed to be a freezer.
This door had heavy metal locks bound to it with heavy twin chains strapped in an X shape. Ruby held out his hands and knocked three times.Metal unlocking sounds resonated as the door opened and cold air surged to meet them.
"Ladies first," Rub said, making a gentlemanly gesture. Muna beamed a tiny grin beneath her cloak as she walked in, her high heels making a clicking sound.
Ruby followed behind as the door roared and slammed shut behind him.
He glanced back at the door. The way the door shut made him feel as if he had just entered prison.
'Hope it's not what I'm thinking.'
He paced swiftly and caught up with Muna.
After shuffling through what they could only describe as a tunnel, they finally saw golden radiation glittering ahead of them.
As they closed in, the glow glared stronger and denser.
A few minutes later, they paced out of the gloomy tunnel into an enormous, bustling banquet hall with a gigantic golden chandelier dangling from the tall ceilings.
Ruby and Muna weaved their hands together as they scrambled through the noisy crowd of people.
The crowd seemed to know each other as they conversed with each other as if they had known each other for a long time.
Ruby didn't stop by to say hello to anyone. He and Muna came to a table filled with wines and red berries, and they sat opposite each other!
The reason for this was that it would be easy for them to watch their backs. This place might seem calm and peaceful, but Ruby knew all this was just a facade.
He slouched back on his seat and popped a red berry into his mouth, munching and savoring the juicy taste.
The booming noise of music and people talking filled the air, making the place seem lively.
"Hey." Ruby felt a light pat on his shoulder. He jolted out of his muse and peered back and saw another cloaked figure with a feminine build.
"Hey, Meg, I thought you wouldn't make it this year," Ruby whispered as Megan sat beside him, her gaze on Muna.
Ruby didn't like the way the two women were ogling each other. It seemed like they were scrutinizing each other.
" Meg," Ruby called out again.
"Hon, I changed my mind since you would be coming as well." Megan smiled at Ruby beneath her cloak.
"When will the priest show up??"Ruby exclaimed as he grabbed a wine glass and gobbled it in.
The Church of villains waa an annual gathering of top-ranking villains from different countries. Each year, they will gather here to formulate a plan to dominate the world.
But for the last decades, they've not progressed because of the heroes popping up everywhere, even a newborn baby would want to be a hero, thus making the number of villains decrease.
Thud thud thud.
The lights went off and the hall was completely shrouded in darkness. Then a stage light shootout illuminating a exalted platform.
Ruby and all the rest fixed their gaze on the stage. Then a man with a black cloak and golden stripes pranced towards the stage with a walking stick.
The man seemed to be an old man. When the man mounted the stage, all the villains rose up to pay their homage to the first villain, the man who introduced them to this business.
He was known as the priest of the church of villains. No one had ever seen his real face, but everyone knew he was a well-known person. But they couldn't pinpoint who he was.
"MY CHILDREN, you may all sit down!" His voice boomed in the hall, sparking wildness in everyone present
He raised his hands with lightning swirling and whirling on them.
Ruby had a large grin as he watched his favorite villain, then priest clenched his fist and his veins pulsated. The entire hall went quiet, then
BOOOOOOOOOOM
A lightning bolt burst out of his hands.
A fluorescent blue spark flared in the dark.
"This is it." Ruby adored this man and his lightning power.
Lightning power was so rare that only 5% of the world possessed it. It was also known as the strongest power in the world.
The super organization didn't mess with anyone that had the lightning power, and it was the reason Priest was feared by villains and heroes alike.
When the lightning faded, the priest continued, "When I was a teenager, I always adored and worshiped the heroes like they were some sort of gods.
"But all that changed that night." The priest paused, and everyone could feel the gloom hovering in the air.
Ruby knew where this was going, but he wanted to hear it.
The priest continues:
"That night, they murdered my mother and father because of a dam fucking debt." Lightning surged and started whirling all over his body.
Ruby was anticipating another lightning bolt, but the priest calmed himself, and the immense anxiety everyone felt vanished.
He continued, "That's the reason I made it my end goal to wipe these filthy heroes from the face of the earth!"
Everyone listened in silence. No one raised their hands or asked any questions because all the villains here had a back story...
...a back story that involved the heroes, though some did it for wealth, while some did it because they were mentally unstable.
Ruby knew all this. It was the reason he trained every day—just so that he could wake up one day and everything would be back to the way it was—no more supes again.
"My sons and daughters, we must come together and finally unveil our secret wea-"
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
A loud explosion resounded as the ship was snapped into two and water started barraging the ship.
Everyone froze and a cold sweat broke out on their backs, their hearts throbbing. They activated their powers and waited for what was coming.
"EVERYONE, WE'VE BEEN ATTACKED BY THE HEROES." A voice boomed all over the ships.
Ruby yanked both Megan and Muna to his side.
He didn't care for the other folks here. They could die for all he cared, but these two women were important to him.
When they were in his grasp, he teleported to the other side of the ship.
"Wow! Ruby, when did you learn to teleport?" Megan inquired with furrowed eyebrows.
"Meg, that's for later! We ne--" Ruby snapped off and glared above.
A large metal chunk plummeted down on them.
*Swoosh*
Ruby teleported from the spot and appeared at the far end of the corner to the left.
Ruby's gaze darted around the half-flooded hall and saw everyone scrambling through the stairs.
BOOOOOOOM
A blue energy beam erupted as it blasted all of them back to the hall.
And descending from the states Where supes in mechanical costumes that had blue energy swirling on them with black transparent helmets.
"How did they find out about this place?" Ruby thought as he bolted to the closest super. When he closed in, he skidded through the ground and snatched a metal spike from the floor, leap into the air, and hauled it at the hero in the mechanical costume.
The metal spike spiraled and sliced the air into two as it arched closer to the supe's heart.
*Screech*
Blood gushed out of the supe's chest. After killing the supe, Ruby averted his gaze to the hall, and his heart thumped at what he saw...
...There were more than 1000 supes.
