Viking With A Modern System

A man in his mid thirties walks into a restroom in his home.

"Hey VICKI order more toothpaste," said the man.

{Right away, sir} VICKI responded.

VICKI wasn't an actual person but a standard issue home A.I. She would only talk when a response was needed and would never conversate. The man in question was no other than the famous Marq Jacobs, an author for works such as Little Hope, Celestial and The Siege of The Apex.

He was a humble man and kept nothing that reminded him of his work in his home, home to him was a place where you could rest, relax and recuperate. but that didn't mean that work would not follow him home on occasion as any normal author he was stressed with deadlines and pressure from the publishing company he worked at.

Marq lived alone in his home, he had no family and wanted one but due to inconsistency in his work-life schedule. He could never keep a relationship for more than a few months at a time.

It wasn't the fact that he was ugly. He was actually a pretty average looking guy. He had short brown hair, brown eyes and was light brown skinned.

He would simply go on a date with someone and have fun but when it came down to keeping up with text or calls, Marq would simply ignore them or forget that he even received the text or call.

After, finishing up in the restroom Marq grabbed his keys and headed out for the day. Firstly, he met up with a few of his friends Andrew and Adam.

They grabbed breakfast at a local diner and talked about how the twins and Marq were doing in their lives. They both knew how Marq was doing but they loved for him to talk about his next novel or what he was up to.

After breakfast with the twins Marq went to visit the homeless lady out Infront off the Grocery store Ms. J. She was a sweet lady who had fallen upon hard times with no family left she was left with no other choice.

He stopped by her, "Hey Ms. J good morning." he said while giving her fifty dollars.

"Good morning Mar, and thank you for all you do." she said.

He stayed with her and chatted for a few minutes and then bid her a farewell.

After, finishing his chat with Ms. J he was about to return to his car but suddenly,

BANG! BANG!

He had been shot and didn't know why. Time was moving very slowly for Marq as blood continued to rapidly flow from his wounds.

(In a world full of corruption even good deeds didn't stop you from judgement for those with greed will put a target on your back and hunt you with their avarice.)

HA. he thought to himself Marq decided to quote the corruption of the world while dying what a cliché. Then he faded into nothingness.

Waking up in nothing but darkness, Marq was confused he thought he had died but here he was in this place void of light. Then he realized that he was surrounded by shadows who were darker than this void itself and just as he saw them one spoke up but in his mind.

[Fear not child we are not here to do you harm] said one.

[We are the Embodiment of Life and Death] said another.
